Umbra was able to survive as a city long before it was connected to Sosaria, it must have its own supply of food. So here's some things I have been thinking about regarding Umbran food:

Bladewheat: A grain that remains close to the ground, and most frequently clusters around the base of trees. The grain is shielded by a stiff skin, effectively making the plant spike-like. This is for self defence against being stepped on. The grain is red in colour, breads made from it are red.

Mushrooms: There are quite a few mushrooms growing in the Corrupted Forest which are edible, including a few varients of the giant mushrooms.

Meat: The corrupted forest is full of life, including traditionally hunted animals such as deer. Meat is usually preserved, since animals are not farmed it is simply not convenient to always have fresh meat.

Cactuses could be used for fruit and water. There are also some water springs to the west of Umbra. There'd also be some varient of grape that grows around Umbra, so there can be Umbran wine.

Something I'd like to point out right now is the food wouldn't inherently taste bad. It irks me that people go "OMFG, UMBRA IS EVIL THUS THE FOOD IS BAD". It'd taste different, but not bad.

As I think of more things, I'll add to this guide.

With the huge population increase upon the discovery of Malas, farms began to pop up in the plains of Umbra. More traditional Sosarian crops were introduced, and herding began.

Specialty meats are shipped worlds-wide, such as nightmare meat.

When it was discovered that Bedlam had just the right atmosphere for the aging of wine, the locals began to produce it in quantity. Wine in Umbra is currently made from all types of berries. Ale from the wheat in the fields also is a form of alcohol produced in Umbra.

Umbra produces ore, crops, leather, necromantic reagents. In addition, it is also one of the largest bone material suppliers in Sosaria. The bone is shipped to distant cities for use in armor and weaponry, as well as for producing glue and other byproducts.
