A Brief History: Only son of a wealthy and now dead gem-mining and refining merchant of Magincia the Governor-Regent is rumored to have well over one-hundred million crowns in his personal savings (largely believed to be the backbone of the Protectorate’s early spending) while no official Magincian Taxation record exists since the invasion. Seemingly rather educated Adrien Garnier never attended community schooling, but was rather privately tutored at his family expense in the areas of philosophy, history, finance, business and politics. He is also known to be a rather adept Arcanist and Archer and is believed to have picked these talents up while studying abroad on the mainland.

The Governor-Regent is a largely private man but several friends from his youth claim he claims book-collecting, hunting and wine-collecting and statue collecting as his personal hobbies, rumors exist of a large and rather secret summer-study exists somewhere in the woods of the northern-mainland serving as his private library and inner-sanctum as well as a warehouse for his collecting habits.

The largest influence on the policies and governances of the Governor-Regent seem to be Lord Dayel Stormcrow, and there exist rumors while none can seem to shed any light on it and Lord Garnier refuses to comment, that the first and current Regents knew or know each other in some official capacity. The only material evidence of this claim though is that Garnier himself seems to wear Lord Stormcrow’s brooch on his cloak. The writings and governing policies of Lord British, Regent Kronos and Regent Malacite also seem to weigh heavy in Lord Garnier’s personal doings.

The Governor-Regent’s family it is reported were registered card-carrying members of Magincia’s Humanis party, perhaps for nothing more as social and business related reasons as the Regent has not revealed any disdain for any races aside from the orcs and undead. (don’t we all!)

Most interesting is the rumor that the Governor-Regent practices the ancient, almost extinct and nearly forgotten religion of “Avatarianism” , a sect of virtue-based religion believed to be practiced by Lord British himself. It is believed that the seldom seen brand of an “A” on his forearm is somehow linked to this religion and not a tattoo indicative of his initials as he often implies to those who inquire with a sly grin.
