Vincent was the only son of Nicolo Giovanni who is a cooper by trade. Vincent and Fiona had one child Ilaria. Named so by her grandfather’s request, the name translates to cheerful. For many years the Giovanni clan spread throughout Sosaria lived unremarkable lives, at least most of them, merchants buying and selling products, produce and goods related to the Wine making business. A strong family bond held the Giovanni together a code whereby one was wronged they all took offense. This devotion to kinship kept the clan alive during even the most violent or lean of times.

Upon the death of his beloved Son, Nicolo became increasingly protective of Ilaria. Obsessed with seeing her live on well past him. In his grief he spoke to Agustus Giovanni, the dark or black sheep of the family. You know the sort every family has one, the relative everyone knows but no one wishes to speak of. The relative who has a life or past that one would rather didn’t exist.

It was that fateful act which through great pain and fear brought Nicolo a certain immortality. The agreement struck by the two men, would forever alter Ilaria’s future. Upon her 14th birthday, before she could be soiled by the touch of a man or lost in death Nicolo present Ilaria to Agustus to fulfill the bargain struck. Without pain or fear, the gift was passed nearly surgically and presented in Golden goblet.
