The Oshiego’s words hit home. How upset would her brother be. His anger was always well contained when he spoke to her but this news could crumble that front. What she felt for Masaya was not going to be easy to hide much longer.

Since Hikiko’s abduction Ni was never alone. She was under constant watch. The good Yondan Wang was kind to her, either his own design or that of her brother’s; he watched over her like a hawk.

Sewing always made Ni’Xuin’s mind wander. Were those gentle private moments gone? Would she be free to travel those solitude trips she enjoyed to find cotton? To shop for the silks she loved to stitch with cherry blossoms and lotus flowers. What of their family secret that a few knew of. Even at times it was hard for Ni to remember what her brother’s face looked like. The soft brown of his almond shaped eyes was all she was afforded.

“Ouch!” Instantly sucking on her pricked finger, the salty taste of blood awoke her, “Just wait Ni”, the thought that ran through her mind.
