Ashford Yendorin sat leaning against a nearby tree with ink pen in hand, and words racing through his mind as he viewed the majesty of the Shrine of Sacrifice. It had been a long time since he wrote a passage on sacrifice...so it seemed fateful to be submitting his essay to Lord Kain to hold the title as the Sage of Sacrifice. Reflection made Ashford realize that he has lived his entire life based on this virtue. Of course, swimming between all the virtues, this one seemed to shape his own life with great care.

Lord Kain Elderan,

I submit inside this parchment thy essay on sacrifice as per your request for my modest acceptance as thy Sage of Sacrifice.

"So it came to pass; like it always does...for everyone differently, but for I, a world travelled never in reliance to any ones needs, but with acceptance without thy hands drawn forward cupping the wants of life. Thy challenge to every man whom ever walked the trails of Sosaria is identifying that your fortitude and will must be open to thought. Find nature and fate to be the purpose and being behind all ye have chosen to walk away from or walk in thy direction towards. It is legendary to sacrifice ones believes to comprehend another’s feelings. It is epic to stand before that in which is hunted and know that his last breath was to give ye continual energy to carry on. Mankind easily forgets that tangible quality that all forms have. We tend to view sacrifice as a negative aspect of everyday life. Nature doesn't hold ill against such acts, thy wilderness doesn't find vengeance as a means to punish your travels. Through thy course of time it is ye that make such choices; it is ye who follow the paths of the principles...of the values. It is ye who look away.

Nature was intended to make this great sphere have a rotation; an invisible sheet of understanding. In return, nature expects thy kindness and growth that it has sacrificed for a growling stomach, your need for shelter, and all that embodies man and elf alike. Those wise enough, long past now, believed in thy very creation of life requires the very sacrifice of the opposite. As men and the directions we advance we lose hold of the very fiber that made growth possible. No one is asking that ye give your life without cause; no one is asking that ye give to valued charity, and no one will ever expect any of the sorts. I believe without such considerations; forgetting others who have forfeited their direction in this world for thy smallest of reasons is losing what we hold thy closest."

Inclosing, as short and sweet as this may be, it is clear that sacrifice envelopes us all under one meaning. No matter how dark or light you guide yourself, how ye have sought the attention of thy very creator, and why nature answers not for someone or something, but for everything.

May peace be with ye,

Ashford Yendorin
Scholar & Historian of Sosaria
