Sinylene came squalling into the darkness of the underdark with great promise. She was to be, a priestess of Lloth the next Matron of House Arabanna. She was the first female in a line of males and the Matron doted on her. It was sooned learned that her reflexes were sharp her eyes keen and her agility without compare. Her older, half brother, (as her mother had taken another lover to produce her precious female heir) was quite fond of Sinylene though he dared not display it around others. He remained silent, but watchful, a protective sort.

Her brother was part of a secret band of Vhaerun worshippers, this treachery in the spiders web unknown for the time being. He worked to quietly impress the will of the masked god slowly, working its magic in the underdark, and his god was pleased. A rival priestess of a different house, jealous of House Arabanna's sucess in finally presenting a female heir feared this would surely improve its strength in years to come. She began to search for a way to destroy the house. It was with glee that she learned of the half brother's traitorous behaviour and exposed him. She was filled with glee as she watched Sinylene's pain over her half-brother's sacrifice though she tried to hide it.. For surely it was the beginning of the end for the house.

It was not long before once again tragedy struck House Arabanna and Sinylene's father was poisoned and died, ensuring hopefully there would be no more female children for a time. In the ensuing chaos of this treachery she set one of her most trusted servants to take Sinylene, dragging the struggling child above ground and selling her into a fitting slavery with human masters. You might wonder why she was not killed, but it was the simple fact that the priestess felt Sinylene's sacrifice to Lloth would bring good fortune to House Arabanna, so she was to be sure that Sinylene was no where near the underdark, nor that she die there.

However, Vhaerun had not turned his masked eyes away from her, the sister of one such noble follower. Indeed Sinylene's half brothers' last words had been a prayer to his glorious god, beseeching her protection. Angered at the sacrifice of a favored follower, Vhaerun saw that House Arabanna did fall, but Sinylene was spared and lived a miserable life, having three different sets of owners over time. Unknowing of many of her gifts, not properly trained as a drow female should be. There was much she did not know. Three times Sinylene escaped her Masters and twice she was caught again. The last time she was sucessful as at last the gift of shadow befell her.

She was hungry, badly beaten, her back bleeding yet she was free. She had a small bit of human money enough to buy a single loaf of bread. That is when the Hand of Chaos interceded. That is when Mairsil laid eyes on the female drow poorly dressed like a young boy haggling with the tavern owner over the last precious loaf of bread. It was not long before she was staring nervously at Lord Gorhun Morchiant.
