Not much is known about Taranis in character other than that he claims to be Kaylor's son and does have a family resemblance.

Before he was ever due to be born, Kaylor's son (whose mother was back in Faerwhynne) began appearing to him at seemingly random times during his times spent in Britannia. At the time he appeared to be around five years old and had a habit of appearing in places where no one happened to be looking at the time. However, each time he appeared attention would be called to his presence by a sound like an entire flock of ravens landing in that spot. Close to the time the child was due to be born, Kaylor received word that his son had been stillborn.
Recently, a young man appeared in much the same way claiming to be Taranis. Upon closer inspection, it's difficult to ascertain his age. His features appear completely unaged, though not exceedingly youthful and his eyes hold a wisdom and intensity that contrasts sharply with the otherwise blank expression he usually wears. His comings and goings are always unseen, though the sound of many birds landing or taking flight is unmistakable each time.
