Char'dra stood poised at the edge of her kingdom. Long green fingernails tapped against something in her hand as she remained lost in thought. At a mere 131 she wasn't old by any stretch of the imagination. But as Matron of the House Teken'duis since the tender age of 30, the experience had aged her. Her mind drifted back.. to another time of something grasped in her hand.. on the outskirts of a House...

House Deani had come in the wee hours, desecrating and destroying anything that moved. Like locusts they infected every crack and crevice of the house and it's adjacent allies. Spells and incantations flew through the underdark setting fire to the already broken windows. Body parts lay strewn about the grounds from where their mounts had feasted upon the dead and discarded them. And tiny 22 year-old Char'dra watched from a hidden enclave just beneath the western wing of the castle, her governess hand clasped tightly over her mouth to keep her from screaming, as every last relative was slaughtered.

House Teken'duis was a myth now. Something set to exist as a tale of revenge. For it is told that that the 18 members of House Deani, one by one, year after year met a similar fate. On each anniversary of the the collapse of House Teken'duis the wind would howl at 3 am. By 4 am every window would be broken and burning with no cause as to how it happened or who started it. And by 5 am one more member lay in pieces on the ground with their blood spelling out Teken'duis across the mud. On the 18th year, the only remaining member of House Deani was that of it's Matron.

Char'dra recalled her well. A curvacious figure of ebony skin silhouetted in the purple of the spider goddess. Her pale pink hair accentuated the violet of her eyes as she turned toward Char'dra that night. And it was then she caught a glimpse of it. Her Mother's necklace drenched in blood was firmly grasped in the Matron's hand. And on that night 18 years later it was the head of the Matron of the The House Deani, grasped by the hair on her head and dripping with blood that Char'dra held tightly too. Payback was a wench.
