A string of curses lit up the night as she appeared at the corner of Arahim's home. "Paranoid, over protective, insensitive ass." That was what she currently thought of Cal Hurst. She finished off her tirade by shoving her house key in her mouth and tied back up her jet black hair into its usual ponytail. Quietly she let herself in and grabbed one of her older brother's homemade beer's from the kitchen. Popping it open she took a long hard pull off if it while she thought about the nights events. She wondered what Morgrim's reaction was going to be when he found her dagger deely entrenched in his front door with her note.

Taking another swig she made her way quietly up the stairs to the second level. Fully intent on curling up in her chair she rounded the corner, twisting her head from side to side to work out the kinks put there by one of what was probably Blackmarshes most Notorious. The fact that everyone else was asleep wasn't strange. The fact that the door to the outside balcony stood wide open when they -were- was another matter. Setting her beer down she unsheathed her kryss and tiptoed to the door. Certain it was clear she set her eyes on her room, also with door wide open. "Maybe Christopher had come through and forgot to shut it?" The thought crossed her mind briefly and she settled some. It was very much like Christopher to come through all excited for Aunt Pay and not shut the door. Typically though, there would be a shaggy haired little boy attached to her leg now and there wasn't.

She made the same quiet entrance into her room that she had the patio. Cleared, she resheathed her kryss and relaxed some letting her hunched up shoulders drop back down to their normal position. Satisfied nothing was out of the ordinary she ran back to get the beer she had set down. Strolling back with it in hand she raised her head and went to open the dresser drawer and froze. The pale pink scarf was tied to the bedpost in a casual manner. It wasn't tightly knotted. Instead it simply existed gently wrapped around the bulb of the post.

With a trembling hand she set the beer bottle back down and took a closer look at the scarf. Closing her eyes tightly her heart crept into her throat and somewhere inside she prayed what she was thinking was wrong. Her hand closed on the deep pink embroidery of the KF at the bottom of the scarf though and she knew she wasn't. The baggage she had just started to let go of, was back.

Her belongings in hand she rode out into the night.

"When I say Family, you understand?" Her Brother's words had been calm but there was a palpable insistence behind them.

"I Understand."

Entering through the creaky wooden door of The Shattered Skull Tavern, she -understood- that the risk outweighed the sense of belonging she had finally come to grips with.

Pale Pink Scarf wrapped in her left hand Paytience walked to the back left of the room. Even from across the room you couldn't miss the figure at the last table. Blond hair cascaded over stoic shoulders, concentration lines all but invisible as brilliant blue eyes looked up to meet her dark ones head on.

"Good Morning Paytience." Kesla Fawns voice danced on the air sending a chill down Pay's spine. For such an unassuming figure she had the ability to make Pay grow cold and shrink with the barest of words.

"Ms. Fawn." Simple but with acknowledgement she kept her gaze locked on the older woman.

"No, I suppose expecting a good morning was a bit much. Still you remember your manners. Please sit." Long slim fingers motioned to the seat across.

Paytience held her standing position and offerred the scarf she had found wrapped around her bed post back to its owner. "I got your message. Why have you come back?"

To the untrained eye nothing was amiss. A conversation between two people who knew each other. If someone dared to peer closer they would see that Paytience's heart was lodged in her throat and her hands were all but unable to be still. Frustration at the effects this woman had over her rising with each passing moment.

Kesla nodded once as if to signal a change in conversation. "David is dead."

Paytience stood there for a moment unmoving. She'd heard her right. But somehow it didn't seem to register. The pauses began to drag and with what voice she could find she began again. "When?"

"Paytience, you really should sit." With a slightly raised brow a hint of amusement crossed her face. "Two months ago."

"How?"

A smile tugged at the corners of Kesla's lips then. "The details are unimportant."

"Then what -is- important?" That did it, the smile faded slightly as the head for business Pay knew so well took over.

"There is a portion of the company that was left to you."
