I am all for a post-apocalyptic setting, well, the medieval equivalent of one, anyway. I do have to say though, Magincia just got over one so to speak. _________________ "Art and architecture must combine to create something larger than either." ~ Robert Campbell |

That was a great post! Your ideas really got my gears turning on what we could do. THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! |

It seems I picked a good time to browse these forums again.
All this talk of change--such potential!
Arlin's post is particularly appealing. A complete shake up of the community, even if only temporary, sounds like fun.
A post-apocalyptic type of event (the cause of the community wide "reset") could be the reason for the forming of the mage tower scenario (proposed by Beleth). Good and Evil mages might just come together to try and preserve the world from a common enemy or in the face of a shared disaster.
Maybe a plague that wipes out all but bits of pieces of everyone's memories and/or abilities--only a select few are left untouched and must come together to cure the plague and preserve world order. A few non-mages are left untouched as well and are recruited to help the mages find the items/ingredients for the cure (once the mage tower discovers the source of the problem and researches a cure).
Maybe one or two members of each currently standing guild are among the "untouched" and the Mage Tower members convince them to bring their respective clans to whatever centralized RP spot is established. The Mage Tower then convinces everyone to help look for the items needed in the cure and, in the process, either rediscover individual abilities or learn new ones (a chance for total character redevelopment, if one so chooses).
At the end of the event, memories can come back (thanks to the cure), or they can not (RP it out for your own character--you decide if you like the fresh start path you've played or want to go back to your old life). During the event, strife can develop from within as various members of the mage tower (or "untouched" members of current guilds) reveal their own ambitions. Maybe the Ebon Skull necromancer on the mage council pretends to work with the other members while secretly sabotaging their efforts for whatever reason (maybe so nobody finds out that the plague was caused by an OES ritual gone horribly wrong or maybe because he/she sees the current chaos as a way to bring about a new age of darkness)? Maybe the "untouched" Stonegate warrior becomes jealous that his/her former packmates are forming new friendships with old enemies (or old flames, perhaps?). Tons of possibilities!
Just one idea on how to tie the two suggestions together. I like them both!
Anyway, I'm patching the client now and will be around to help out however I can. What an interesting time to come back to UO! |

Halister, other moderators and the community.
While I am certainly well removed from active status, I am pretty sure I had a habit of successfully moving and shaking things when I applied myself. If you'd like to discuss this further, I'd welcome you to PM me or establish some way for me to communicate with you. I love Atlantic dearly, still to this day. It's been a full 12 years since I started playing and if I can give any measure back for all I have received, I would be happy to. |

Bailos...
Why not post what ideas you have right here?
I wouldn't mind reading something from an older RPer such as yourself.
Perhaps we can start a group going with a plot, get some outsiders involved? Heck if I could be of assistance, just hit me up. _________________ Malorn ‎(12:14 AM):

I didn't post right away because, while I do have ideas I would like to share and an aged, tempered perspective, I do not know the current atmosphere of the community or the people in it and I don't want my thoughts being lost on an audience that is so many pages off from my own mind-set that we'll never see things the same way. I realize my approaches and mental techniques are a couple years removed. Perhaps that is not for me to judge, maybe you're right. I will prepare my thoughts for the community and post them probably tonight when I can keep the same mental train-of-thoughts for more than 10 minutes (work interruptions) |

There is nothing wrong with aged, tempered perspectives. I, for one, would embrace them gratefully. As for atmosphere? Well...the night skies are open and free to one's own interpertation. |

The way I see it, we are rather starved for decent RP. So any and all contributions Im sure would be greatly appreciated by the serious RPers here, Id like to think I am one of those anyways.
Please feel free to share when you have a moment. |

With so many roleplayers wanting to roleplay... why is everyone posting that something must be done, instead of just getting in game to do it? This is driving me bonkers. The posts on the forum lately seem to be written with a desperate air to them.
I've never seen so many people roleplaying that think they aren't roleplaying. My mind is blown, I'm having ice cream. _________________ "Art and architecture must combine to create something larger than either." ~ Robert Campbell |

Because, and this is what I see, I log in and there isnt much of any roleplay going on. Its just people running around spell spamming or runing around in circles dropping random bagballs on the ground blocking people as they scream, "YOU MAD YOU MAD...." |
