The roads of Sosaria are long, many people travel these roads, if you have no one to travel with the miles seem longer, and the forests more daunting. You learn to live with very little, relying on nothing but yourself waiting for your dreams to come true and knowing that those long roads finally brought you there.
Coming out from the moongate of Yew in the facet Felucca a couple by the names of Daela and Akhane had begun a walk that would change their lives. During their travels they had come across a child who looked to be no older than 1 year old, they looked around the immediate area for the parents but none were found. Daela held the child close as Akhane looked in their pack for something the baby could eat but the only thing he was able to give her was bread that he soaked it in water to soften it up for her. After a day’s travel they did not find any parents and would not simply leave the child on the roadside so they took her in and named her Tanika. They set up a camp for themselves by the mountains North of Despise and there they were able to live for a month. During that time they had found another couple few people that needed or wanted help so they had taken them in which, until their stop in the Desert of Compassion eight months later, had built up to 15-20 people. During their stay at the desert a baby was born of Daela that they named Sennah. The miniature community or the gypsies as they were labeled by others, all worked together taking care of the few children there which were Sennah, Tanika, and another couples 5 year old twins. A few months passed after setting up camp they had been attacked by a group of scorpions that had come from the desert, 3 people were killed and the rest scattered to find safety anywhere they could. Sennahs parents and the couple with the twins headed toward Vesper, which is when they had finally had a true home established with gold they got from selling all of the semi valuable items they had collected during their travels. It was a small sandstone house with 2 floors, there was barely enough room for one family let alone 2 The other couple stayed at the inn, paying for their rooms by cooking and cleaning for the innkeepers until 1 year later when they too were able to get their own house which was North of Vesper . Within that years’ time Daela had another child, a son that they named Jamier which the father was already planning to train to become a professional bagball athelete.

Sennah had just turned six years old, their family was long settled into their house, there were cheap decorations on the walls along with some furniture that was found on ground by the bank in Vesper. While Jamier was playing inside with blocks Sennah and Tanika would play outside for hours, and ran into the city of Vesper where they would go to look at the gifts given to those that had contributed to the Museum. Sennah pointed at the jewelry and told Tanika how one day she’ll get ‘’every piece of jewelry in the whole world!’’. Tanika laughed and told her how silly she was then ran to the weapons and told Sennah how she is going to become a warrior and protect people from monsters. They went outside the Museum and looked to the sky to see how late in the day it was, and then ran home because they knew it was about dinner time. When they got home there was a group of men holding their father and one had Jamier held under his arm as Jamier screamed and cried. Sennah and Tanika turned to run into Vesper again but they were grabbed from behind. As they were held they watched their father as he was beaten and their brother who was now on the ground not moving. Their mother was taken out of the house, dragged by her hair and dress torn, she cried as she tried to cover herself with a man following right behind with a cold smile on his face, tucking his shirt into his pants. One of the men was holding a red mages book cast the ancient spell to create a moongate. Once the glowing red had been opened the men began crossing through the gate, taking the three girls with them.

The three girls had been brought to a large castle with men standing high up in the towers keeping watch for intruders or escapees. Sennahs face was grabbed at her cheeks so hard it left bruises, heavy chains were locked around her neck, wrists, and ankles. The metal was aged by the look of the scratches, and stained with blood of those who had worn it before her. Her sister and mother were chained in front of her; the chain was tugged in front of her mother by a big man with the tattoo of crossed scimitars on his upper arm. She looked at the back of her mother and sisters heads about to cry, but took in a deep breath and told herself that right now she needs to be strong so not to make her mother worry more, and to hopefully calm her sister a little when Tanika would get scared. She felt a big hand grab her rear making her jump and quickly looked behind her to see a man grab his pants at his groin yelling ‘’Hey little girl want ta’ become a wom’n!!’’, then him and a group of others began laughing as she was being taken further into the castle. She looked forward again and up toward the stone ceiling holding back her tears thinking ‘be strong, be strong,’. The chain had stopped being pulled and a man sitting on a giant hardwood throne motioned for the men to bring the girls closer to him, he then grabbed her mother’s hair, pushing her to the floor. He leaned over to a woman sitting next to him that didn’t seem to fit in with the others that Sennah had seen. This woman was covered with expensive jewelry, her long beautiful hair braided and running down the left side of her body, all the way to her thigh. She leaned to him as they spoke to each other like professional business people, the man waving a finger as he pointed to each of the girls, his other hand still clutching Sennahs mothers hair. The woman stood and walked over Sennahs mother and sister, studying them, suggesting to the man on the throne their value. She came to Sennah, kneeling in front of her, looking her over then to the man.’’ I want to keep this one, I think she’ll be of more value here as she gets older’’. He nodded to her and motioned to the man holding the chain, and he proceeded to separate Sennah from the chain linking her to the others. The woman took her by the chain and led her away from her mother and sister, Sennah turned, trying to get away, yanking the chain she was being taken by. The woman turned and rolled her eyes then slapped Sennah across her cheek. Sennah stopped tugged and lowered her knees to the ground; the woman stood her back up grabbing Sennahs already bruised face and positioning it to face her. ‘’Look you little wench, you belong to us now, you keep this up and you will get chained down the basement until you can behave.’’ Sennahs spirit dropped, her head lowered, still holding back her tears, she looked back once more to see her mother with her face in her hands crying and her sister, unlinked from her mother being led away in another direction. Sennah looked down, the only thought in her mind was ‘I can’t be strong for them, I can’t make mother not worry, nor ease my sister when she’s scared.

Day after day Sennah would get hair brushed to perfection then braided by the woman, who Sennah was instructed to her ‘Mistress’. Mistress wanted her girl to look nice everyday, and taught to act proper in front of their ‘perspective buyers’ which was their more professional term for those looking to purchase slaves .Sennah told if she didn’t behave that she would be locked into a small, dark room with no food for one full day. Within a couple weeks Sennah was finally beat down, her spirit completely gone, staring out the window of her room which was beautifully decorated and always perfectly clean. The door was locked from the outside anytime Sennah was in it to keep her from leaving; it was simply a jail except Sennah wasn’t locked behind rusty bars as her mother and sister were. She was fed fancy meals, expertly prepared, and even fine wines to go with it despite the fact that by now she was about to turn 7. Mistress would come in and give Sennah a bath smiling and singing to her as though they were family, however each day for 3 hours she would get to see her real mother as she entertained everyone. Her mother would dance in a colorful dress in the center of the main hall as men whistled and yell horrible, inappropriate things to her. After her dance she would be led off of the floor into a room down the hall so that the ‘goods’ could be examined further. Tanika was sat on her knees in front of ‘perspective buyers’ would would check the merchandise for any imperfections which would make her to be sold for less. Tanika was an example of how good they could be as slave labor, and Sennah was the example of how respectable and proper they can be when they needed something more elegant. It was like they were selling new and used furniture except they would be buying the same piece expecting it to be whichever they wanted. Sennah would walk up to the clients, smile, curtsey, speak in a proper tone, and using proper etiquette. Sennah was not permitted to look anywhere but forward and always look pleasant. Sennah would serve the clients fancy meals, bow, stand in a corner, fill glasses, and clear away plates to make room for each course of the meal. When the meal ended and everyone left Sennah would pass her sister in a dirty, torn robe but show no emotion. Once the show finished the clients and owners would go into a private room to talk business, all the slaves taken back to their cells.

Sennah decided though that she was no longer accept this life that her, her mother and sister were living. So when Mistress took Sennah out for a walk to keep her from becoming pale, which would make her less desirable and harder to sell, Sennah would take note in her mind of patterns there were in change of guards and the least noticeable spots of the castle to escape with her mother and sister. After a month she was able to escape from her room by carefully taking out the glass in her window that she had carefully been carving loose for the last three days, making sure not to carve away too much that it would fall out. She snuck around the outside the castle and quietly slid into a window that had no glass and small enough for her to get through. She watched for any guards that might come by, and when she got to the cell take the keys off the wall silently and let her mother then her sister out of their cells. Her sister was more difficult to get to because Sennahs mother didn’t prepare for this as Sennah had. Her sister was also on the opposite side of the castle from her and her mother. Once both were gotten they snuck to a section of the castle Sennah found to have weakened blocks. Her and her sister got out into the black night, the forest so thick that moonlight barely got through. Since her mother was bigger than the two girls so they had to try to pull her out, but then heard an arrow whistling, some shouting in the background, then her mother jolted and blood was seen from the little light through a spot that could be seen into the castle. Their mothers body went limp and was pulled back into the castle, the girls sat still as a guard looked through the hole but they were just far enough back that the leaves covered their small bodies. The guard stood back up, his foot walking past the hole, their mothers feet seen being dragged away. They both choked back a scream or tear and slowly crawled through the forest underbrush, their movement sound disguised by the breeze moving the leaves above. They could not speak to each other as they crawled away to not be heard and caught by the guards. After what felt like days but was only about an hour Sennah came out into the moonlight looking back waiting for her sister to come out but she didn’t. Sennah sat on the grass softly calling for Tanika but even after waiting there for a half an hour her sister never came out. Sennah bent over, tears that she couldn’t hold back anymore rolled down her cheek. She had no one left, all of her family was lost, she didn’t even know whether her sister was caught and killed somehow on the way, or lost in the dark forest crying for Sennah too, wondering the same about her.

Sennah jumped awake looking around her room realizing nothing was there; she sat up and blankly stared at her bed sheets which were faded and the edges frayed. She took in a breath, moved her feet off to the side of her bed, grabbed a pail from the floor, and then walked out of her families old house after looking carefully out the door to make sure no one was there. She went to waters edge to fill the pail to bring back to the house to clean herself up and ready for her job at the Inn that was just a short walk from her house. It had been 9 years since that nightmare had happened, she had still never found her sister after that night. Sennah thought back to that night as she crossed the bridge leading into Vesper. That night she sat with her knees clutched to her chest hoping she would live to see another day. The morning finally arrived and the light cut through the thick shadows of the forest, Sennah stood and began walking with no idea where she was nor where she was going. She had walked for miles through the forests occasionally had to outrun a creature of some kind then finally came to a dirt trail which eventually came to an area she had recognized, she was near the moongate Southwest of Britian. She took the moongate to Minoc and walked to Vesper, once there she asked some people standing at the bank for food or a little gold to get some. Seeing how young she was one man with a kryss sheathed by his leg and a dagger under his belt brought her to the tavern and bought her any food she wanted then before he left sat a bag of 100 gold coins on the bench next to her, patted her on the head and told her ‘don’t be afraid anymore’. She watched him go out the door, smiled and finished the food he had gotten for her. She picked up her bag of gold, went back to her families old house and that is how she got to this point in time. She was now 16, making her own gold, and remembering his words to her everyday.

Today when she got to the Inn just as she opened the door that same man was standing in front of her, her eyes widened and lit up, he looked at her puzzled for a moment then realized who it was. ‘You were the little girl at the bank a while back right?’.
Sennah blushed and nodded her head. He was now about 40 now, his name was Galen Kershire, then took her gently by the hand into the Inn. There they sat and talked for hours, she told him everything she had been through, and what she’s done since then. He picked her up off of the chair, sat her on his lap, and held her then tilted her chin up to him. ‘I will never let that happen to you again my little Sennah’. He stood, held her by the hand, spoke to the innkeeper who looked down to Sennah with a smile, ‘You will find happiness now little one, I’m sure of it. Safe journies Sennah’. They waved to her and he was still holding her hand, which scared her a bit but she put her trust in him to help her move on in her life. He took out an old runebook and brought her to his home which had a small garden by the door, his wife came to greet him then saw Sennah holding his hand. His wife kissed him and Galen told Sennah to sit by the garden for a few minutes, giving her a little pat on the head again and he headed to another room with his wife to speak. Sennah sat staring at the flowers, enjoying the soft scent as it traveled through the wind.

Sennah sat staring at the flowers, enjoying the soft scent as it traveled through the wind, then Galen came back out holding his arm out to have her come in. She looked around the room she was in, there was an old rug in the center of floor, fireplace and a lute leaning against the wall. She ran over to it and kneeled down in front of the beautiful and well taken care of instrument. Galen picked it up and sat in his chair and began playing a song on it, then looked to his wife while still playing the tune. ‘’Would you like to dance for us, m’love? She nodded to him then began a beautiful dance, her dress spreading as she twirled. She held her hand out to Sennah and right after Sennah took her hand Galens wife spun her once. Sennah laughed and smiled more than she had in years, her troubles didn’t exist at that moment, she was not alone.

A year went by quickly and she was about to leave her temporary home which she had been preparing for two months with Galen and his wife. They had explained to her 2 months ago that she needs to expand her horizons, and find a complete life that is all your own. Sennah stood at the door looking at their sad faces, like parents watching their child go to college. ‘’We’re proud of you Sennah you have come far, you will find your happy life down those roads.’’. Each other them kissed her on her cheeks and with that she began to tear up as she turned to walk away from the home she had that helped her heal her wounds and start her life again, this time she was not thrust into the world in fear, she was helped to leave with confidence in herself.

She walked down the road humming a song that was written by Galen during her time there they simply called ‘Sennah’s Song’. As she went down the road she would occasionally do a beautiful twirl or a graceful ballet leap. ‘’Girl!’’ yelled a man on the side of the road that sat high on a beautiful white horse with a brown fur spot on its cheek that was shaped like a diamond. She looked up to the man, smiled a bit nervously then said hello. The man got off of the horse and pointed down the road to the place he stopped her, ‘’What was it you were doing just then?’’.

She looked back then to him, ‘’simply dancing and humming’’.

He pointed to the ground twirling his finger, ‘’do a dance right there.’’

She looked to him then closed her eyes and began to do a little dance that Galens wife had taught her during her time at their home. Then stopped her dance as the man abruptly said ‘’Enough! Come with me girl’’. He hopped onto his horse and held his hand to bring her up onto the back of the saddle. He clicked his tongue and the horse began trotting through the woods. She looked around her as she road and saw a moongate to their right then pointed to it. ‘’What area are we in now?’’. He looked at the moongate then ahead, ‘’That’s the Yew moongate’’. At that moment a gang of thieves jumped out from the bushes, beginning to draw their blades. ‘’Give us your loot!’’, but before of them had drawn their weapons the man quickly drew his sword, Sennah clutched his tunic, buried her face into it, the sound of steel clashing to her sides. ‘’Hold on girl!’’, the horse began to gallop through the woods leaving the men behind them. She was able to see that there was one thief on the ground, then looked to the mans sword which was covered with blood. He yelled something so she looked in front of her and there was a grey stone castle with a large wooden fence around it with guards standing in watch towers waving their arms and gave a sharp whistle. The horse slowed to a stop and a warrior came to her side, slung his shield to his back and helped her down, then the man hopped off of his horse. The warrior and the man were on each side of her, directing her into the steel doors. She looked around and there were potted plants of all colors along the inside walls, the warrior put his hand onto her shoulder, the man went up to a man and woman who sat on thrones with red crushed velvet cushions, whispering to them. They all looked her, the woman said to Sennah, ‘’show me your dance little Miss.’’, then motioned to another woman at a harp that began to play the song ‘Walking’. Sennah began dancing, her movements smooth and elegant. As she finished with the music completed those around her clapped and smiled.

The woman upon the throne looked to the man on the throne by her who looked to Sennah, ‘’Young Miss that was indeed very beautiful, your movement was like an angel gliding across our floors. I would like to hire you to dance during events that we would hold. We will supply you with a room to stay, food, and some proper clothes. We will pay you 100 gold for each event you would perform in.’’

Sennah looked at them, her eyes wide, then said with excitement, hopping up and down, ‘’Yes ! Yes!! I wou….’’, she looked around the room as everyone stared at her, whispering to one another. Sennah then looked back to the couple on the thrones and curtsied. ‘’I would be honored to Sir.’’
This had begun Sennahs life as she knows it now. She danced ballet at many parties and events, then learned belly dancing from a woman whose outfit was covered with pearls. Sennah found that she was paid more for doing belly dancing, and generally for fewer events. Almost every place she worked gave her a piece of jewelry, and 2 gave her some expensive fine cloth as gifts as she departed.
