|
As I mentioned in another post, It would be great to start having centralized places to meet up and hang out or run plots thru when we are done doing guild activities or personal RP events.
I would like to open this up to the community to post here if they are interested in hosting a roleplay location. This location must be neutral. This location needs to have someone that can be an active member of the community. You do not need to be there every night, but it would be great if you could be there often.
Depending on how many people sign up for this we can get this in a rotation.
I am going to ask that we also get an Events Forum, so that people can post up special events/tavern nights ect that they want to host whenever they want to host them!
Monday nights I have heard aren't working as well as they used to I think it would be better if people hosted these when they wanted!
If you are interested in starting up this campaign, please list:
Name of Character:
Guild:
Location suggested to make into a Centralized Roleplay spot:
How long do you think each location should last, a week or a month? Do you prefer variety or consistency?
After gathering this feedback ect we can all get a better idea of what is needed. _________________ Something is Wrong, I can still feel Existence... |

How long do you think each location should last, a week or a month? Do you prefer variety or consistency? I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean by this question. Ideally I'd always like for there to be RP there. Realistically though, I suppose it would be worth revisiting this question in say 3 months or so. *shrugs* And then Ideally, I'd essentially renew the contract. I enjoy the merits of both Variety and consistency equally. I've generally thought of tavern nights to be the consistency in which events of a more isolated and varied nature are discussed which then hopefully leads to more people getting involved in the "variety" events.

Not to hijack the thread but honestly, I loved the former Event Rotation Schedule. I would have only made two changes. One, I would have posted it only monthly rather than quarterly. And two, I would have confirmed with the owners of the taverns that they would be available for their particular night. The first part wouldn't require that much more effort. The second bit might get tedious. I might be wrong, but it feels like this is the thought process that lead to your fourth question. I'm not as keen on the Event Forum idea. Maybe make a rule that the event date is posted in the title. That way it might be easier to skim for recent and upcoming events in the eventual(?) long list of event posts.

So far as I have read I am the only one who has expressed some difficulty in being able to log in and effectively RP on Mondays. This is because I play while at work, though work still comes first, Mondays tend to be busier days. Apparently, everyone loses their minds over the weekends and forgets their passwords. For me Sundays are my best night to be on so I reserve those for my guilds' events. I try to make a point to be available on Friday nights. The idea being I try to host a tavern night at The Redrum Casino of Red Fang Pointe, though the RP often takes me to other places for more impromptu RP which I prefer to tavern sitting. |

I would love to see Hanse's Hostel come back to use any evening people could stop by to see if anyone was around and sit a while. It used to be if you would hang around there any time after 7 or 8 in the evening someone would stop by to roleplay with. Some scripted but most was just impromptu.
I still stop by on my rounds there for a few minutes when I get on which lately has been 3 or 4 times a week but don't run into too many people accept in Vesper and Tati.
That's my suggestion. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

Unfortunately sid, random rp hasn't been happening very much lately lately. And the atlantic rp chat channel is pretty dead. The majority of the time you send something over it noone is there to read it. During primetime, sometimes there are as many as 1-2 people actively on it I'd guess. _________________ Ralph, UgDug DigDug, Shaemus McBlade, Epimetheus, Jon Wilks Sleuth, Alecto, Typhon, Juks Inforlem, Kimbo La Four, Stelios Armunn, etc. |

I can/will stop by anywhere I know about stuff happening when I log on.
Love the Hanse idea. So many places are dear to me but most are "out in the boonies". Would rather see an rp hangout somewhere in a npc town just to gather possible interest of anyone that would wanna start rping, not just rpers tho. Maybe Brit, closer to a castle or the bank? Not too too worried about being harrassed by nonrp'ers these days if done in a public npc building. We can be as "welcoming" to others as we wanna be but if the rp & rpers aren't seen and heard...ummmmm....the welcoming stuff becomes moot doesn't it?
Vesper sounds like the place to find some rp these days tho. Specific events can be held anywhere anytime by anyone and should continue to be so, otherwise building beautiful player towns and taverns holds no practical purpose.
If we're talking about rotating "hangouts"...thats too confusing for ppl like me to keep track of & I'll usually find myself just whereever cause I dont know where the hang out is that night. Would rather see just one centralized & public area for "hanging out" w/ rpers. Rotating event nights is cool tho. The best of both worlds so to speak. All that is just my opinion
Ofcourse, I might not know what the heck I'm talking about cause I've been gone a while & might be confused as is a common thing for me. All I do know for sure is, until something is figured out here, I'll be wandering around lost as usual. hehe
OH OH, if Yew gets that npc tavern they're suppose to get, would definately be hanging out there cause it just fits since our own lush would be running it. Or did that already happen? I think I'm digressing alot so will just hush as I'm not even sure if this is OT or not. _________________ Dark Lady Ditto Armunn

This topic has been up since the 13th of Feb and not much has been actually done in game with it, in order for rp to continue in game the thread convo has to set things in motion not just talk about possibilities.
There are a couple places I know where rp is being pushed. First is Sanctus (Hanses) in Luna, second is Red Fang Pointe near Jhelom. Perhaps with taverns begin with those 2. I am on regularly and can open Red Fang Pointe at 9 PM if people would like to have some tavern rp. I can coordinate with Hanses so that we do not overlap with each other.
More emphasis needs to be put on people hosting events or rp story arcs that happen in the main towns so that rp is seen by everyone. Also there should be time where rp is done in Haven, I know it is not the rp hotspot because of all the new players or non rpers, however the rpers that do begin the game generally start in Haven as the 'default' area. I have found many rpers because I spend time there and show them around the shard so that they do know where the rp is generally found.
I will add too, that rping with yourself (like tossing out random emotes of your character doing something) will attract people to interact with you and occasionally gives birth to a new rper. If someone has an rp-like name 'bump into' them accidentally and see if they will rp along. Don't simply rely on the rp chats to find where rp happens, make it happen.
We as rpers need to get out there and just rp, stop making excuses why we cant or wont, and not wait for forums, EMs or anyone else to direct us to the rp. As rpers we are story tellers so lets make things happen! |

I've said this before, but there's actually an active population of RP'ers on Atlantic, but they're over on Stratics. They're in the Atlantic RP channel every time I log in, post stories, participate and create story lines, attend EM events and in turn the EMs build off of them, they just have a completely different approach than the traditional ARPC groups (which aren't even active). That's where bridges need to be built if these forums are ever going to have any relevance ever again outside nostalgic value.
And Sennah, you're right. Weeks of discussion, and nothing, including the super-secret forum discussion between a handful of actives, semi-actives, and inactives never being moved to a public forum so that the other handful of active, semi-active, and inactives can also participate in it. While I think that RP chats and the EMs are great tools, you're also right that a Field of Dreams approach is needed. An RP hot spot is never going to be determined by committee -- just make one and people will come or not. |
