Roc was the product of two star crossed lovers, a human male and an elven female. His mother used to go shopping at a human market, which was the only place she could find the fragrances she enjoyed. Elves were not highly valued in the area, so she used her magics to hide her elven traits and appear as a human female instead.

She noticed one day a ranger, a human, that had come to set up shop on certan days and sell medicinal herbs that he had harvested in the wild. It was love at first sight, even though his mother knew it could not be. She found herself coming to the market on the days that he frequently visited, and she found herself buying more fragrances from the market, as an excuse for her journey to see him, and more herbs from him, as an excuse to talk to him, than she could possibly have use for.

They fell in love, and over a month or two, he had offered her the life of a married woman, he offered to give up his living in the wilds to move into a normal house and live the normal life of a human couple to the end of their days. She declined, because she knew she would be found out when she was missing from her elven kingdom. Eventually she was foolish and ran away, to be with this human, and hoped that the magics she used to become human made her permanently so, so she did not have to live much longer than him.

Eventually she became pregnant and realised what she had done, realised what she would have to tell him, and realised what kind of life the child had to live. She explained to her husband, and he accepted it rather gracefully considering the situation. The child was born a half elf, and both their fears were confirmed when the child appeared with pointy little ears.

After some months, she ran away, because she could not believe what she had done. She killed herself by jumping off a cliff, because she could not bear what she had brought upon the man she had loved, and the child she created. Roc's father, the ranger, resumed his life as a man of the wild, caring for Roc and raising him as a human child. He eventually grew too old to do this, found another ranger, and passed Roc along to him. Roc was raised in turn by several rangers as he aged.

One day, too far into his life for him to remember, he entered a battle, his ranger 'father' was mortally wounded, and Roc was knocked unconscious, presumed dead by the enemies, and left to die. His ranger 'father figure', with his last strength, slipped the one posession handed from his father to the rangers to give to Roc one day that he had: the elven wedding ring that Roc's mother had given his father.

He was saved and healed by the Stormguards of Stormhaven, and decided to join their cause. He found the life of a paladin easy, perfected his common speech, and rode with Stormhaven to many glorious days. After some uprisings, corruption and turmoil in the guild, Roc decided he had to leave. He had heard of the Elves of Asur'Herenion before, and decided to seek them out. He found them, and stayed with them for some time.

Currently Roc lives in the wild, or in dungeons, hunting for a living, and to prove his Valor and Justice. He is also quite ashamed of his lack of knowledge of the elven language, and is currently trying to learn more of it.
