Essay Questions
Describe your physical Appearance: (You enter a crowded room, what do others notice?) High cheekbones and a prominent nose, Alarin has a plainly attractive face. His eyes are black without pupils, and sometimes flash a vibrant silver hue when he becomes steeped in the aether. He stands about six feet tall. He has stark raven black hair tied back in a pony-tail which goes under his cloak. His cloak is of traditional style and is held up by a pearl brooch. His robes are flowing and seem to move of their own accord, the hems are adorned with runes of power. His gloves each have a large rune on the top.

He holds his head up high and always seems to be looking down on others. He practices mostly glamourie-type magics, and has crafted a particular breed of magic which allows him to draw on spiritual energy and mold it to do what he wishes. It is called Spiritmancy, and is the equivalence of spellcrafting, it is extremely dangerous and is slowly erasing him from existence. His abilities in dwoemer magics are not great, his natural aptitude was much larger when he was not overtaken by Oblivion.

There is always a undercurrent of malevolence around him, as if his entire being were simply a facade stretched across something dark. If he were to lose most of his power, he would revert to his current natural form, which is that of an animate suit of blackened carapace, which marks him as a former death knight. Luckily for him, the runes of power on his armor and robes seals himself within a shell of sorts so he does not "leak".

Historical Facts: (What people should know about your history): (Warning : LONG!)

Alarin was born in the bustling magocratic city of Moonglow. His parents abandoned him, and he was adopted by a kindly mage by the name of Kandeth. Kandeth taught him greatly in magical arts, and by the age of sixteen, Alarin had been practicing magic almost non-stop. It had consumed his entire being, this lust for knowledge.

Kandeth loved the boy dearly, and would not deny him anything, so when Alarin kept crusading for more power he received it. That was the beginning of Alarin's fall from the light. He began to dabble in Necromancy, and at the young age of eighteen understood anatomy and death.

Alarin often visited the bank of Moonglow to attempt to catch a living specimen to experiment on, he had to know everything. On one such mission, he met an elf with silvered hair and a quick tongue. His name was Nai Asonod, and he would lead him to join with The Silver Order, and his first venture into a "friendship" of sorts. Alarin was unsure, his lust for knowledge was one thing... but some of the things Nai asked him to do were gruesome indeed. He would consult with Kandeth first, he had thought.

Alarin had been wrong, as he came to the tower he lived in, it was on fire. Kandeth was suspected of practicing Necromancy, because of what Alarin had recklessly done. His only tie to morality was severed. Alarin roamed the island for days, lost and tired and unsure. He decided then, to seek out Nai once more and move forward with his original plans. There was nothing left for him.

Alarin joined The Silver Order, and a great "friendship" was forged between Nai and Alarin. They were kindred souls of sorts, both ever seeking knowledge.

Alarin grew in strength and resolve, and learned the dark paths of magic, and many things from his new found ally. He frequented Rivendell, now and slowly developed a web of contacts. His time with the ancient elf, grew to a close as he moved on to somewhere else... his passing was easy now, Alarin was bitter about life and all things. No emotion would delay his hasteful need for knowledge.

On a fateful trip, Alarin went to find an ancient tome within the Dungeon of Despise. On a pedestal it sat, and he took it up and looked at it and he was pleased. Everything went black as a large club hit the back of his head. He awoke with amnesia. He could not remember who he was. He wandered the land, and ended up in Rivendell, where he felt drawn. Someone apparently knew him, as a woman of elven descent, with long red hair and smokey-dark skin approached him. "Alarin" she said his name was. She said she was "Molly" and would help him. And she did, she referred him to a place that always needed warriors, the Moonglow Town Council.

Alarin dwelt with them for a while, and knew a moment of happiness, but always people seemed suprised to see him. Alarin slowly rose to the top of the Council, and became a Herald of Honesty. As he embraced Honesty, so it embraced him. He saw the truth in himself and his amnesia faded, driven to grief from his loss of happiness he sought something worth fighting for in this world of confusion.

As he wandered the land once more, he recalled a frozen land he had once traveled to in the past. Caina it was called, and he felt driven to make way to it. He chartered a ship from Moonglow to Caina, and found himself with no idea what to do. A grinning facade of death he found, and it's name was Merrick. So, was Alarin initiated into the Death Knights of the Ebon Skull. He grew in rank and power, and soon Merrick was thrown down by the Lich Lord, found unworthy. Alarin ascended to power, and ruled a while. He was yet unsatisfied.

Alarin continued researching ways to strengthen himself, and prepared to re-learn magic, and create a suitable glamourie, to appear as he once did, instead of the shell of a man he was now. He succeeded and moved on, locking himself in his tower for years, having a caravan deliver book upon book from the Scholomance's deep vaults. Ever did he collect knowledge, and he re-appeared from his tower, prepared to do the Skulls will again.

He found out about his true heritage then, exiles of Caina, who had once been the Keepers of the Well. The Well would recognize him, and show him the future. He was adorned with the title "Nightmare Prophet" and he was determined to serve the Skull well. Shortly after, the battle of Britain began, and his loyalty wavered in the coming of Nizar. He went into his tower, and barricaded the door, for he saw the destruction and anullment of ancient alliances, and the city itself.

Many years passed on, and one day he heard a great cracking. He stepped outside into the light, and looked to the West, and saw a great pile of bone and mortar, where once lay Golgotha, the tower of skulls. The Order had been dissolved. His purpose was lost, and he went back into his tower to simply exist as it were for the moment.

Eventually he gathered that it was time for a new evil to stand, and he gathered the insane, the poor, the ill-moraled and the fiends that he could, and formed the Shadowform, which later became an Empire with some vassals.

(Forgive me if it's poorly written. I despise writing.)
