Kneeling in the shrine before the Highest Sungoddess Amaterasu, responsible for sun, family and wisdom, she is deep in meditation when she hears the soft, wispy voice call out to her in the breeze ....

"...It is time".

She slowly comes out of her meditation, a sad sigh escaping her lips. She stands and bows once more to the Goddess, a tear sliding down her cheek. She knows what now must be done.
Entering her private study, taking care to lock the panel behind her, she opens her heirloom chest. Removing the items within, she carefully lifts the false drawer bottom. There she finds the hidden items he had entrusted to her safekeeping so long ago. Her hands shook slighty as she carried the small bundle and placed it upon her writing table. The silk ribbon slid easily open. Unrolling the fine silk cloth, she looked upon the letters. She carefully laid them out upon the table.

"So many names that have come and gone from his life." she whispered.

An ethereal breeze sighed wistfully over her shoulder. Several of the letters lifted into the air, faded ,and dimmed into non-existence. She glanced at the letters remaining upon the desk,

"Those, his faithful friends, whom he wishes to see before ......"
She could not complete her thought.

Preparing the letters for sending, she then opens the panels leading onto the balcony. She calls for her cranes, watching as they descend upon the ledge. Placing the small ribbons around their necks, she gives each the name of whom they are to seek. She turns and re-enters her study as the last one takes gracefully to flight. Retrieving the last parchment, she carefully rewraps it in the silk to give to him when all were gathered.
Several hours later, those requested arrived at the designated meeting place, prepared to be escorted to him. She quickly assessed that all were there as he had requested. The Lady Starfire , his closest and oldest friend. Lorilli, with whom he had taken guardianship over upon her fathers death. Lady Angelique, his trusted friend, upon whom he knew Lorilli would find council. Finnally, Lord Galnor, the one he trusted with his secrets. Grasping the silk wrapped parchment tightly to control her emotions, she sends a crane to the yotogi watching over him. A portal soon opens to transport them to his side.

Notes in a diary:

I can not beleive it even now, Poet gone. I wanted to throttle Tai when he told me that Poet was deathly ill and beg him to tell me it was not so. I had prayed that perhaps it was not as bad as Tai made it out to be, but it was worse. I gated in with several other people, without really paying them much attention. It was Poet who was foremost upon my mind. We trooped upstairs to the room where he lay. The sight of him broke my heart. He was bleeding from slashes made by his own hand, boils of some sort were about him here and there. I knew then that the end was indeed near.
He spoke a bit, much of it in delirium. There was not much to do to aid him but be by his side, holding him till the end arrived. It was the hardest night I can recall; holding his hand and wiping his brow, and yet feeling the life leech out of him.
I fear the hardest hit was Lorilli. The poor child had already lost a father and now was about to lose the surrogate father. What drove Poet so that he would leave her now? I know he would trust Tai and the rest of us to keep her safe, but it will not be the same without him.
My heart is saddened beyond belief, as Poet was one of my oldest and dearest freinds. I will greatly miss his charming drunken self and yet rejoice that he is at rest now. . . .
tears smudge the rest of the page[/i]
