As part of his preparation for his solo mission to Cove, Max sat and penned a letter to Lady Lia:

Dear Lady Lia:

I have recently returned from a sort of self-imposed sabbatical to learn that the Order of the Ebon Skull has occupied the city of Cove. I hope you are already aware of this.

I personally am not comfortable with them so close to Vesper, and I intend to take action to drive them out of the area. I do not seek your approval as this will likely take place outside and independent of the city of Vesper, but I would like to know your thoughts on the matter.

Please respond as quickly as possible as I do not know if the skullies' future plans include Vesper, and I would like to deal with this as soon as possible.

Due to the urgency of the matter, Max calls out the window to Bart, a trusted gipsy, and asks him to hand deliver the note to Lady Lia.

As usual, Bart refuses the gold offered for the chore, and leaves immediately.

*lia returns from her nightly patrol of Vesper and its borders. To find a stranger at her door. Is there something I may do for thee?, she asks. He replies are ye Lady Lia and I reply I am her. He hands her a ltter telling her its from Max. Lia thanks him and pays him for his troubles. Lia walks into her home goes to her writting desk opens the letter reads it then writes her response*

Dear Max,

I am aware of the Order of Ebon Skulls in Cove. I do not like that they are so close to our lovely city Vesper.
I can not speak of plans right now, though I wish no harm come upon ye. Please proceed with caution when dealing with Order of Ebon Skulls.
