Claudette could not seem to concentrate on her studies after receiving Drayden's letter. She had agreed to meet with him to discuss their situation and she was nervous about it. Finally she would get the answers she expected from Drayden and then she would know what the future held for her.

As thoughts popped in and out of her mind, she thought about Melior and the comforting words he had said to her. He was very understanding and she found solace in the fact that no matter what happened, he would be there for her. She decided to sit down and write him a letter.

Dearest Melior:

I hope this letter finds you well. I find myself thinking about you right now and so I decided to put my thoughts to the parchment. I received a note from Drayden today. He and I will be meeting at the Freehold tonight and I assume he will give me the long awaited answer. I do not know what will happen and to be honest I'm quite nervous. At this point I feel I just need to know so that I can move on.

When you told me the other night that you loved me I was quite surprised and our kiss left me very confused. Perhaps tonight will help end the confusion on many levels. I do not know when I will see you again but I hope it to be soon for I find that your presence brings me much comfort.

For now I shall end this letter by saying Namaarie Aratoamin.

Your friend,

Claudette

Claudette neatly folded the parchment and put it inside an envelope. After sealing it with some wax she attached another small note to it addressed to Maggy Malone.

Dear Maggy,

Could you please see to it that this envelope makes it to Melior Rohannon? I would truly appreciate it. Thank you again.

Claudette

She hears a nock on the door. She thinks to herself that the lodge is closed and it is early and moves cautiously to the door, still nervous from the previous night.

As she opens it slightly she is relieved to see a messenger standing there and motions him to come in. She offers him some food and gives him a few bags of coin for his trouble as she accepts the note he carries. He sits near the fireplace and eats as she sits at the table near the door and opens the note. She reads it and nods to herself stuffing the other note into her pocket for when she sees Melior. As the young man finishes up his meal she hands him her responce and he takes it with him as he goes. She picks up her bar rag and finshes whiping down the tables for the evening patrons.

As she finished up the tables and went outside for a breath of air before it got too dark she saw Melior walking towards the Lodge.

Greetings my friend, I have a letter for you.

He smiled and looked at the writing on the letter. He held out his and blushed.

Yes it is from Claudette. I will leave you to your contemplations. she chuckled and went back in the lodge to do some busy work while he sat on the steps to read the note.

He took the letter gingerly, as if afraid that it might break. He pocketed it and went inside to rest his mind.

As he sat inside the Hunter's Lodge, he ordered a long-anticipated hot dinner of roast grouse. Maggy brought out a beautiful side dish of potatoes and peas to accompany it. With white wine to wash it down, the meal was quite savory.

When he had finished the greasiest morsels, he wiped his hands thoroughly with his napkin, and retrieved the letter from his pocket. Unfolding it, he read it through. He was delighted to receive a letter from her. His heart's happiness knew no bounds.

So, she possibly was going to receive her long-awaited answer? He hoped she would, and that she would be happy. If Drayden hurt her, he vowed, why, then he would make her happy himself!

He re-read the letter many times, absorbing her pen strokes and handwriting style. Revelling that he had yet another tangible thing she had given him, like his steed.

As he sipped his wine, he pondered whether or not to be at the Freehold for her support, tonight.
