She walked in hope toward Sanctus, having met a man named Khilean in Luna who told her that her husband waited for her there and had been looking for her. Khilean had introduced himself and Lady Molly at the Royal Court of Light, and both gave information to her that her husband, Mauric, was alive and well. She had expressed her misgivings about things happening in Papua, and gave them two items, a student primer that her daughter had left behind, and a rune that she had marked, at peril of her life, to Thraxstadt, the location of the mysterious school her daughter attended. She hoped and prayed they would be able to do something... anything... to restore things as they were.

Thus far her plans had gone well. She had left, or rather escaped, from Papua with her son, having lied about their destination: her brother's home in Britain. Instead, she had left her young son, Joel, in friendly and safe hands and began the search for her husband. She crossed paths with a dark elf mage who advised her to seek out the Royal Court of Light in Luna, and Lady Molly specifically. For some reason, she believed she could trust the man and took his counsel to heart. Her faith was rewarded, and now she was close to completing her quest.

They had offered to escort her to Sanctus, but she declined their offer. She had eluded pursuit thus far, or so it seemed, and she was a mage of some ability. (Having a husband who was a skilled mage had its advantages!) She was confident that she could handle herself and felt more secure in traveling alone as less attention would be drawn to her.

Now, however, she was beginning to have her doubts. As she crossed the long bridge that led from Luna to Sanctus, the pungent smell of cheese wafted up from behind her, the wind blowing from that direction. She immediately sensed that someone was following her, keeping just out of sight and using techniques that made detection by the untrained eye almost impossible. She turned around suddenly, electing to confront her pursuer. "I know someone is there," she stated, calmly. "You should clean up better before trying to follow people. You reek of moldy cheese." When no response came, she wheeled about and continued walking, albeit a mite faster.

A bit further down she decided to summon help in the form of an air elemental. It took several tries. When the creature finally did appear, she ordered it to guard her and continued on. Nonetheless, the odor of cheese kept assailing her nostrils.

Eventually the elemental returned to its own plane, and she came suddenly upon a camp of elvish brigands. Seeing them first, she skirted around their camp to the west, using several large buildings to screen her movements. As she rounded a corner of a tall building she felt a hand from behind close about her mouth, while another locked onto her left arm, pulling it painfully behind her back. "I will not harm you if you do not cry out," came a whispered hiss of a warning. She tried not to, but fainted nevertheless.
