Once a long time ago, Jon was a Duke in the kings court. However, fortune doesn't smile constantly and he was accused of a murder he didn't commit. Jailed by Lord British he was stripped of his lands, title and gold and he was left to rot in prison for his innocence. The woman he was set to marry was bequeathed to another and he spent the next 10 years thinking about all that had happened. One summer afternoon, a guard came and told Jon they were relocating his cell. The guard unlocked the door and took him down the dark corridor to his future cell. As the light grew dim Jon, saw an opportunity........and took it. In a flash, he reached down and unsheathed the guards sword and slammed the blade hard on the mans neck. Gurggling, the gurd slid down the wall onto the floor in a crimson pool that glistened slightly. Jon ran as hard as he could through the prison and squeazed through a window to freedom. Faced with water on all sides, he stole a small fishing boat and sailed off. Jon, having previously lived a comfortable life, now had to learn the hard way of how to sail. He caught on quickly and hopped from island to island for food and occasional work.

The years out on the ocean and the ones he spent in prison took thier toll on the man and he became bitter about what he'd been forced to become. And mean. It was once said a man could pour boiling hot water down Jon's throat and he would piss ice cubes. He no longer cared about right from wrong.....now he lived only to avenge the years he had lost and bring missery to others like he'd suffered. He vowed that from now until he died, he would reign chaos, distruction and misery to anyone loyal to the king or his followers.

His first chance came when he spied one of the kings ships anchored off of Moonglow. He sank the little fishing boat at dusk and swam to the big ship. Hiding down by the keel he waited as the sailors went into town for leave. There were only 3 left to guard the vessel. Jon climbed up the rigging and snuck around to the first. He caught the guard unaware and quickly slashed his throat. The second was just as easy as he jumped out from behind some barrles and stuck the cutlass he lifted from the first into the back of the second. The third was not so easy as he had caught sight of Jon. Wanting to avenge the death of his mates, a lenthy battle ensued. Jon,having been trained by the best in the kings court, was able to emerge triumphant. His rage for the king grew and when he finally took the man down, he stabbed him 46 more times before he calmed down and collected himself. He had tossed the bodies over the side and started to set sail, when a young boy of about 13 came out from the captains quarters. Not sure what the boy had or hadn't seen, Jon quickly grabbed him and struck him at the base of the skull with the handle of his cutlass knocking him out. He tossed the boy over the side and continued on. Later that day he renamed the ship, The Black Crow.
