NO! she said to herself she was NOT going to start crying again, she took a huge deep breath. She headed for the sanctuary of her garden sitting on the side of the pool of water watching the water fall gracefully from the fountain.
I am going to try and remember him as he was, she said to herself and write something special for his wake. She had left her writing materials by the pond earlier with not a thing written yet. Every time she thought of what to write she would break down in tears.
She purposefully set herself to think of the first day they had met in Rivendell. A soft smile crossed her face as the memory surfaced. She was sitting with LEGION on one of the benches outside of the Hungry Halfling talking of their future. LEGION said his nephew had just come to these lands and he wanted her to meet him.
About then a very young man came walking around the side of the building and stood between the Halfling and the row of hedges looking around. LEGION waved him over and she stood with him to greet the young man. LEGION introduced her to him and he bowed formally and mumbled something as his ears turned red in embarrassment and he blushed. She remembered thinking what a nice young man. She assured him there was no need to stand on ceremony. He responded still blushing with a Yes Ma'am. She knew in that moment that he would be a great addition to the life in Rivendell and could see great things in her mind's eye for him.
He carried himself well and was dressed in a dark forrest green with black trim. There was something about him, that at the time, she could not put a finger on but remembering back she knew that he already then was one of the most honest, kind and brave young men she had ever met. He was very shy at first but he began to warm up once he got to know everyone. Even as his uncle, LEGION left for parts unknown he stayed on and became an important part of life in Rivendell.
She watched him grow from an innocent and kind young man to a brave and heroic figure. She thought of him as her younger brother. Oh brother...why.... Her eyes misted over thinking of those days and wishing she could turn the clock back...some how to stop what happened. She took another deep breath pushing back the tears threatening to emerge from her already reddened eyes and she picked up the quill. She looked at the parchment then picked it up walking towards the bedroom, tears escaping once again. She was not ready yet...she needed more time...to gather her thoughs... _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel
