Alizia sat down at the writing table. She recalled Isk's words about his new possible friend Thrax. It seems he was in need of a healer. She had told Isk she offered her services should they be needed. He agreed it would show Maginica in a good light if she were to assist as much as possible. Now, she finds herself wondering what exactly to write to this man she met perhaps once in her life.

Dear Lord Thrax,
I am writing on behalf of Magincia and Lord Isk in offering my services as a healer to you. I was made aware that your condition despite the cure that was found has not improved. I ask to be granted a visit to you, that with permission I may try to assist. I have been practicing the healing arts with the healers of Magincia and the monks of Yew. It has become one of my greater passions. Please send word letting me know if there is any way I may assist in leading you to recovery.

Sincerely,
Alizia Everblue-Randerstill

She reads the letter realizing it was not one of her better ones. She nodded to herself in agreeance that at least it did get her point across. She then had the letter sent via messenger to Papua. She then prepared to start back on decorating what will soon be her new home.

At Pier 39, in Papua, Magistrate Alicia took the letter from the courier, promising to deliver it to the addressee. She gave him a generous number of gold coins. She asked him to wait while she could return with a response and directed him to the Inn where she described the wonderful meal that would be served him. He bowed and departed in haste, perhaps famished by his long journey.

She went upstairs and sat down at the table where Skurj was, finishing his own lunch. "This came for your father. It is from an Alizia-Everblue Randerstill. Do you know her?" She handed it to him, unopened.

Skurj shook his head. "No. The name Randerstill is familiar somehow." He wiped his hands on a towel lying on the table beside his plate, took the letter and opened it.

"Is that wise?" she asked.

He nodded. "I would know what it is about my lady. We both should know. It might contain information as to his whereabouts." He read it out loud.

"It seems Isk is unaware that Thrax is still missing," Alicia commented after a pause.

"That cannot be," Skurj countered. "I spoke of it two weeks ago, and this week, to Lady Angelique. It must have to do with something else or perhaps there is a misunderstanding."

"You should reply then. I give my commission upon it. The courier is waiting at the Inn to take the reply when you are ready." Alicia stood up and placed a sympathetic hand on Skurj's shoulder. "Do not worry. He will return before too long. I sense he has need to be alone." She gave a comforting smile and left.

Skurj found writing materials from a nearby bookshelf and began to pen a reply:

My Lady Alizia,

I am Skurj, the son of Lord Thrax and his former consort, Lady Nefariana. My father is indisposed at the moment and is unable to reply to you. I beg your pardon for having opened the letter you sent him. I would not have done so except that I had hoped it might contain helpful information. I can see that it has. It is clear we have found another generous friend and helper, of whom no one can have too many.

I do need to report that those afflicted with the toxin in Papua have all been cured, thanks to Magnate Isk's and Lady Angelique's thoughtfulness in providing us with a book which detailed the precise cure for it. My father was cured prior to that by other means after having been poisoned by a drow now held in custody in Nujel'm.

Yet, we cannot be fully sure that the cure is entirely successful until some time has passed. Should the symptoms of the poisoning reoccur, your help will indeed be needed.

Confidentially, my father's whereabouts are unknown, though we know he is alive. I will pass along your kind offer to him the moment he returns. And if he is ill, and our powers of healing fail, we shall surely call upon you.

Please give our kindest regards to the Magnate and his Lady. You have ours as well.

Signed,
Skurj
Envoy of Papua

He sealed the letter in an envelope and affixed his seal to it, then took it to the courier at the Inn.
