Keldril stood waiting. The neighborhood fit his desires completely. It was the kind of area where people kept to themselves and did not wish to bother or be bothered. The small keep he had chosen for his new dwelling was a crudely built box with no aesthetic value what-so-ever, but it would serve his purpose. So around the corner he stood...waiting for the return of its current occupants.
His wait was not long as a young husband and wife walked arm-in-arm laughing softly toward his new home. They walked carelessly inside with no concept of the danger that lurked behind them. Keldril waited until they made their way upstairs and looked with horror upon the renovations he had prematurely started.
The woman had time for a short expression of disgust before his blade sliced a thin line across her neck. Her husband whirled around and grabbed for his sword. Keldril merely smirked at him. "Say when." Were the last words ever to penetrate his mind. The man howled with rage and ran swiftly toward the one responsible for his wife's death. Keldril twirled as he parried the man's unbalanced attack and swiftly inserted his dagger into the base of the man's skull.
He deposited the bodies into the corner and moved to finish the small job of remodling he had planned.
