Alizia started right away once she left the Royal Court building. She was interested in figuring out what seems to be going on with the treefellows. She ran test after test. She used local animals both domesticated and wild. She even used some plants, seeing how the treefellows were plant creatures. Or at least that is how she saw them. Soon after a couple of days of research, she felt she was no where closer to an answer. She, exhausted, sat down at her writing table. Her eyes almost gazed over, looked upon her notes. She then finally took out a parchment and quill and began to write.

Dear Molly,
I am writing to give you the results that I have so far. I fear that I feel as if I am no closer than I was when you first gave me the samples. There is notable deadwood within the water you sent. There is also some other items that I am unable to attest to their orgins as well. But from what I have seen or know, they tend to be non poisionous. I also found some various items within the sap. I was able to collect some sap from a possible non effected treefellow. That is how I know the substance I noted were abnormal. But alas from what I can figure out, they too are not harmful. I have noticed an abnormal aggression within some of the wild animals that I used in my experiment. This was after giving them some of the water in which you gave me. I will continue my investigation in hopes I will get more information to give you. I do hope that what info I have given to you thus far will be helpful. I have enclosed copies of my reports and the such. When I find out more, I shall send word. If you have any question, feel free to stop by. Good luck dear friend.

Sincerely,
Alizia Jonas

She then called for her messenger.

"Take this to Duchess Molly Willow as soon as possible."

The boy nodded as Alizia gave him some gold. She then returned to her lab desk and once again started trying to break down the substance within both samples she received.

Late in the evening the boy arrived. Shihan was fixing the duty rosters and had nodded off. The night guard had awoken him from the light sleep when the boy had arrived. Grabbing a couple of gold pieces he received a rather thick pile of paperwork and handed the gold to urchin who ran off into the darkness.

“This can wait till morning.” He thought out loud as he turned back towards the office, but as he took a cursory look at the paperwork its substance caught his attention. As a grand master inscriptionist he quickly made a copy of the entire document and filed the original in the court files.

Grabbing another sheet of paper he scribble:

Duchess this arrived late this evening. I have made a copy of it for you to read. I will have the scribes make several copies for the other Royal Court members in the morning. Please sign the cover letter so that we can forward it to them under your signature.

SUBJ: TREE FELLOW REPORT OF FINDINGS

REF: a) Report from Alizia Jonas

1. With the receiving of ref (a) there seems to be a substance that is altering the Tree Fellows minds. A cure is being worked on and hopefully will be found in a short time.

2. This report was requested when Lord Bailos in his letter and his personal report stated that the Tree Fellows were attacking citizens of Umbra. Lord Porthos volunteered to investigate and was attack personally by the usually calm creatures. The High Wizard Teraptus, Paladin of Q. Concordia who was attending a private meeting or the Royal Court then personally looked into this situation and found barrels of water in the Tree Fellow forest with a substance in them. This substance along with branches collected from the corpse of the Tree Fellows the were given to Alizia Jonas for testing.

3. The Tree Fellow forest was under the protection of our court before a annexation by the City of Umbra and we are currently scouting and preparing armed patrols to return this area to back under our protection. Please prepare to provide assistance in the protection of the Courts lands.

4. Pleas contact me if for further information.

Grand Duchess Molly Willow
Vassel Lord the Royal Court of Light
Luna, Malas

Enclosure

He took the copied package and the letter and put them in the Duchess’s office for her to sign. He sent a pigeon to her house telling her that a package from Mrs. Jonas had arrived and to send a time for him to arrange an escort for her.

The night was late and he then decided to turn in for the night in a real bed and headed to his Dagger Island residence.

The servant who woke him later that evening said a message had come by bird from Will Kaldhel. “This late?” he asked. The servant just nodded and handed the message to him.

Quickly dressing and finding his gear he soon appeared in front of the Duchesses official residence and soon found the Grand Commander on the first floor looking miffed.

Shihan was immediately barraged with several rapid fire questions on whether he knew if the Duchess had an appointment that evening and who was escorting her. Puzzled, Shihan stated he did not know of any meeting but had sent a bird earlier about a report the Duchess was to look over. “She might be at the Court Hall sir.” Shihan said.

Will was not in a mood for possibilities. “Go to the court and check then.” He barked.

Shihan immediately pulled out his book of Ruins and aspirated to the court entrance. Upon entering the building he heard a conversation coming from the upper levels. Taking the transport he arrived in the meeting hall and found the Duchess and none other than the minstrel Hugh who was being sought for placing bombs in the city of Luna.

“Sorry Duchess for the interruption but we were looking for you, as we had not found you at your residence.” Shihan said as he stepped into the room.

The Duchess looked relieved when she saw Shihan arrive. It seemed that the Duchess had come to the court unescorted and had been waylaid by Hugh in the hall. Shihan was just starting to realize the gravity of the situation when Grand Command Will Kaldhel arrived followed quickly by Queen Saidhe Skyfire and the King Talon Skyfire.

As a story quickly unraveled it seemed that Hugh was trying to get the Duchess to change the courts opinion of Lord Tai and also of the Regency and was threatening to blow up the bombs set around Luna city unless he got what he wanted.

After a lot or worthless talk by all of the people in attendance Shihan finally had enough. Moving to control the situation and to secure the Minstrel Hugh he moved forward asked the Duchess for permission to jail the obviously senile person until he gave up the location of all the bombs.

“Poof” Hugh disappeared and then “Poof” he shows back up behind Shihan in a seat. “Hmmm” this is going to be more difficult that I thought. Shihan turned to secure Hugh and then “Poof” he disappeared again. This time he reappeared with a dagger at the Duchesses throat claiming that he would cut it unless he was left alone.

Ok, if he does not take that dagger away I am going to splatter him all over the wall, Shihan thought angrily. An argument ensued and Queen Skyfire eventually talked the fool into putting his dagger away and then was able to get him put whatever plans he had on hold for awhile. “Poof” he disappeared again after saying he would abide by the Queens request.

I am going to splatter him as soon as these damn bombs are found, Shihan thought.

After everything settled down and everyone seemed to have left Shihan felt frustrated and quickly asked to be relieved for the evening. Taking his leave he proceeded home and went out to his training area, lit the torches and proceeded to take out his aggravation in the form of a satisfying workout.

"shihan-san, do you choose to block my entrance to this room?" and he stepped back and said, "Emperor, only a fool would fight you in a room this small."
