The Duchess Molly Kaldhel entered the room with a large smile on here face. We are going to go to Poet’s tonight she said. Her husband the Duke Will Kaldhel nodded to his new wife with an agreeing smile. The Duchess had said she would attend the reopening of the well known pub. The small group departed the official residence for a night sure to be full of revelry and entertainment.
Poet’s was full of people when they arrived. Taking an open table in the crowed room the people were listening to the Silent Poet recite one of his poems. After sitting and taking a drink the evening continued with conversation between friends and acquaintances and the accomplished entertainment of the Garden. Even the Duchess asked if she could recite a poem at one point.
The evening progressed until IT happened. IT was an odd and decidedly unnatural event. Suddenly feeling ill and dizzy, Molly Kaldhel the Grand Duchess of the House of the Gauntlet began to see visions. Visions of events that had not even happened yet were coming into her head. Disturbing visions, irrational visions, and absurd visions were seen. Something was wrong and this was not the place to have a break down. She said it was time for them to depart and asked to be helped to stand by her husband. The thought that went through her head was so straight forward it felt she should do something about it. She walked across the room and spoke a verse of she saw so clearly to the Poet. “Bloody ell” was his response. It was exactly what he needed to finish his latest creation he had been on. But along with the visions so was a sickness.
“Take her to see a healer quickly, it’s not natural.” He old friend Silent said slightly confused as to how his mind could have been so easily been looked into.
Her husband who had been watching her with concern took her into his arms as she again became dizzy. “Commander if you would please?” he commended as he looked for help from Shihan Reckoning.
Shihan quickly created a magical gate for the Duke to take his wife though. Carrying his wife through the gate they appeared in front of the official residence. “Shall I call for a healer then sir?” asked Shihan as he watched the Duke carry his ailing wife up the stairs towards the house. “Yes and hurry.” was the reply.
“Yes sir.” And Shihan mumbled some words and disappeared with a magical gesture. _________________ Shihan Reckoning

Will had brought her home in his arms. After the healer left and all was quiet he carried her to the bedroom. Stay with me love until I sleep? she said with pleading eyes.
Of course my darling he said with a soft smile and a gentle kiss. He held her close until she stopped shaking and fell asleep into a restful slumber.
At first it was a calm and peaceful sleep safe in his arms. But that was not for long. As she slept the visions began again. This time they were not of Poet's words nor of the snakes in Papua and the dead bodies all around or even of their child whom she had conceived on their honeymoon. It was of dark riders. She could only see the silhouettes of their hooded forms against a stormy sky, as lightning seemed to come from nowhere striking all around her. She was alone and then she was surrounded by the beings. They were whispering so she thought. It sounded like the wind through the trees and ghosts and crackling wood in a fire. She could not make out the words but she could tell it was evil they were plotting.
She moved her head rapidly from one to another trying to see beyond their shrouds. Trying desperately to see their faces but all she could see were red eyes piercing the darkness. Their eyes were almost as bright as the lightning strikes that continued to come from their weapons and the sky. She was terror struck as she watched. They seemed to be looking through her though as if she were not there. That didn't change the fear she felt in her heart and the pit of her stomach. She could feel the bile biting at her throat as she watched them. What were they doing there? Why were they waiting? What were they watching?
Then she saw it... It was Will, he was standing near the wall of a broken down castle just waiting for something. She could not tell what he was waiting for but he was unaware of the riders in the night. He was standing beneath an outcropping of the castle wall to stave off the rain. Then she saw someone approaching. It was a mother who was obviously pregnant and young child. She could not tell who it was but they were clothed in the House Gauntlet white red and gold. She had a hood over her face, as did the child. The child could not have been more that two or three as she was unsteady on her feet. As they moved closer to Will he seemed to smile, stooped down and opened his arms for the young child to come to him. The little girl ran for him and her hood slipped off her head as she neared him. She knew in that moment it was their daughter and that must have been herself with child.
As the gap closed between the couple, the riders reared their dark mounts and stormed through the driving rain right for the three of them. Molly screamed Look out! but the couple and the child did not hear her. She ran right over to Will trying to shake him but he did not hear her as her hand passed right through him. He seemed to glance her way but with a look of feeling a ghost, not of recognition. She yelled at him begging him to get their daughter out of there but Will just smiled at the two coming towards him.
As the child was almost to her father's arms the dark riders grabbed her by the hair and threw her over the saddle of the dark mount. All of a sudden an explosion from the hand of one of the other riders ripped across the couple's faces. They fell to the ground grasping for their child and each other. One of the riders stopped above her future self and sliced opened her belly, reached in and took the nearly full term infant leaving her in a pool of her own blood as the rain spattered their nearly dead bodies. The children and the riders disappeared into the darkness.
She sat straight up in bed trying to scream but the sound would not come as tears pored from her eyes. She startled Will so badly that he too sat up swinging nearly hitting her by mistake and grabbed her holding her tightly whispering, calm down love, calm down and tell me what you saw.
She could say nothing she had no voice her throat was tight and closed. She clung to him for dear life and some sort of grounding in reality. She could not catch her breath and her heart was racing, terror gripping her like no other terror before.
When she finally found her voice again as he cradled her in his arms rocking her, she barely whispered, It was horrible…horrible…I can’t tell you, she sobbed…it was horrible, we must protect her, they want her, they want her…she hesitated…and our unborn son...
Who? Son? Who are they love? Will asked questioningly as terrified as she was.
The Shadowlords, she barely squeaked out above a whisper as her eyes darted around in the darkness of the room. She began sobbing uncontrollably. Will held her through the night as she dozed off and woke over and over again, with the same dream. He promised her each time that in the morning he would post guards and she would never be alone. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

After a restless night sleep till the wee hours of the morning spent trying to calm Molly down each time she awoke suddenly, she finally started to sleep peacefully. Will wonders where these visions are coming from and why is she having them. Seeing that Molly was finally sleeping peacefully he heads for the desk penning a quick note to Shihan.
"Commander, I need you to bring that healer back to the hall as soon as possible along with yourself. " stops writing and thinks for a moment before continuing." sorry Shihan, both of us have had a ruff night. I'll tell you when you get here."
Quickly attaching the note to one of Molly's pigeon he sends the half asleep bird off to find him" fly swiftly little one" Will says. Returning to his loves side and wondering what the hell is going on? _________________ Hate binds a warrior,

The pigeon landed on his shoulder leaving a wonderful mark that would have to cleaned later. Shihan read the note and immediately left for one of the best healer he knew. Collecting the healer and took the man as fast as he could to the Duchess’s personal residence. Entering the hall he call “Duke Kaldhel, where are you?” and waved the healer to follow him as he headed for the royal quarters. |
