The Sacred Totems

Every living being is watched over by the sacred animal spirits of the world. Each person is also granted a guiding spirit that watches over them and gives them signs of warning and advise. These guiding spirits are a persons sacred animal totem. A totem animal selects its charged for common traits it has with the person. A person is not born with their totem, but must under take sacred rituals and rites to be deemed worthy of receiving the blessings of the animal spirits. This series of rituals is called the sacred hunt. A sacred hunt can only be performed by a speaker of the totems, the Mo'gur. The sacred hunt is comprised of the following rites, The guardian's trial, the spiritual cleansing, the final path, and then the receiving of the totem. These rituals are performed at sacred places in the motherland of Ilshenar. The rituals themselves are forbidden to be written in word and may only be passed on verbally, or by painted image. The names of those who receive their totem and their totem names are then scribed upon a sacred stone of the clan.

A lion spirit (or drug hallucination) told Isk to disband Hand of Humanis in 2005.

This kind of thing sounds interesting. Very Native.

it was inspired by some translations of what people have gathered from cave paintings, and even some native american beliefs, and lot of imagination from my part to glue it together, and the name Mo'Gur comes from the clan of the cave bear book/movie

np, however the actual rituals and method of naming a totem animal was made up by me for this character. I simply used the base idea of the totems to kick start it.

curious as to what an 'ebil" character totem would be....if said quest was possible for the less morally inclined here.

oh yeah ebil can go! your totem is determined by your actions and answers on the quest. its not a morale thing, its simply a spiritual thing.

not sure what faith would be.. i do not know if the worship of lolth and spiders would make her a spider totem? Or would that be even concidered?

look look people there is no "predetermined" animal, its all determined during the quest, its not what YOU think you would be, its what the quest reveals you to be!
you are tested by action and question to figure it out : ) if you want a run! ask me or ask someone who has had one. they didn't know till the last second.
