He swiped his hand over his buckle in stride with his arm, buckling the his trusty warfork to his side once again as he always had, in his chosen fashion which he seemed so attatched to. Strapping his shield back onto his back once more, the duelist had set off down the clifftop of the land that he had traveresed so little in all of his years.
The hill was very steep, but looking back on it now, for the safety of a young girl he did believe that the effort was all worthwhile. As he made his way downhill, he quicked glanced back behind himself to eye the plateau that he had set off of, then back.
"Stay safe Zeyla..."
Slipping his hands back into his skirt pockets as he always had, he looked up above himself to notice how brilliant the stars had shined here in the Lost Lands. No lights to cover their glimmer, no distractions to detour his eyes. It was going to be a long walk back to civilization, but again, it was all worthwhile. To say the least, Dan was rather content with himself these past few months as far as people went. Yes, the politics were as troublesome as ever, and new enemies had come and fallen since he had chosen this path for himself, but in the end he had to admit to himself that this is how things should be.
As he made his careful steps downward, he could only imagine the warm feast that may be waiting for him at Tatiana's home, and the big pitcher of milk on the side. That image made him grin, a grin that had found his face so often now that he was finally as peace with himself. A Sellsword, so it seemed, was the life that best fit himself, and he could do whatever deeds his own morals would allow, rather than blindly obey the order of this which his superiors would give him.
He just wanted to live to be satisfied with himself, and that alone is what he needed right now. Just to be happy, and not having to prove himself to his peers around him, in the kingdoms, to the royalty, or even to his comrades whom which he would engage with in combat quite frequently. This transition in his life was but all he needed, and as he thought this to himself he stepped off the steep slope and onto the flat grass of the secluded cliffside's summit. Looking around himself now, he only then realized that he was amongst nature once again, amongst the very same scenery when he first came to realize what his animal totem was so good few weeks back.
"The Lion...", he mumbled to himself, and a grin surfaced on his face as he looked down to his belt to eye the medicine pouch he had been given. "Strength and Loyalty huh? These days the only person I'm loyal to is myself." he muttered, and gave a brief sigh and continued his pace towards the nearest road. When he took walks like this, it was as if there were so many things to consider whenever he took a walk, yet he never could muster enough time to find his own answers to the questions to the problems he had seen, the conflicts that layed out before him.
And instead of finding an answer for each of them, he usually just shrugged it off to later find an answer for all the conflicts in whole. That was just his nature, and for some reason, he seemed to become more and more comfortable whenever he walked alone in the wilderness as he was now. So peaceful, so simple, no politics to worry of and no conflicts to take to mind. It was just as it was, a laid back world where things just took its course and there was nothing you could do about it. In some sense, nature, to Dan, seemed to have alot in common with him lately.
Then again, he never had the makings of a ranger, at least he thought so, and on that note he simply made it a hobby to enjoy the finer things of the world, the things that others often overlooked and could not appreciate enough.
As he made his way through, the grass seemed to get taller around himself, but he payed it no real mind as he continued taking his thoughts to heart. So much trouble these days came from those whom always seemed to feel like they were right in their beliefs, and the others were wrong. This alone created all the fighting in what seemed to spring up around the kingdom and the courtrooms, but what was the point? We all live once, and during our lifetime do we really need to pursue what is the ultimate truth that holds a common foundation with so many ideals and lesser truths in the world?
Dan shooked his head and chuckled lightly to himself on the notion. "I'd rather be happy than be right.", and as he spoke his quote his foot found solid, firm ground beneath itself. Looking down, it would have seemed that Dan had finally found a road, and from there he continued his way to Delucia.
He had found his path. _________________ AKA: Gryss ab'Arawn
