We might be willing to spare Luna, in exchange for the Chest of Evil.

The words rattled her as she realized what Ceinwyn was saying. She could never do that…to put the whole of Sosaria in danger. The evening played over and over in her mind. And if Isk got wind of it’s existence, she grimaced at the thought. But it was too late for that now, he would know…he had spies everywhere. She rubbed her temples and walked to the fountain splashing water on her face in a vane attempt to wash away the images and voices that swirled in her head.

Those are your choices, either give me the Chest of Evil and spare the lives of all in Luna, or attack Sanctus.

Join us.

How could she do something like that. Talon was like a brother to her and though over the years they had their differences of opinion she could not under any circumstances draw arms against him. That was evident months ago when things were so strained between them. Neither of them would make the first move. They knew it would solve itself in time.

They want Luna, Molly. They will not stop with us. They think Luna is weak. Talon's son is a necromancer.

How could this be, the words overwhelmed once again as she thought them through. She waved the towel to the air as she dismissed the though as untrue. A ploy to make her distrust and doubt Talon and his family. She sighed still playing it over in her mind. Could it be? No…Talon could not let that happen.

And that strange Orc…she knew him from somewhere…probably one of Grishnak’s crew. Where he came from she didn’t know and he kept following her, even as she was leaving. And Toren Smithe, she thought he was long gone but it seems he is back around. She must remember to keep an eye out for him.

She sighed deeply. There was no choice in what she offered. She could no more do either than she could sacrifice her child as she suggested.

The M’Reals, James and the Mastavick Clan as well. James and his brothers and father had stood by her years ago in force as part of her guild. She knew them well and was very glad to see them. Sadly they were up against a greater number and could do nothing to help once the die was cast and the skirmish began, but their words struck a cord in her. She decided then that the journey to Umbra had been folly at best. She hoped that it had not made things worse.

Another surprise, Sid and Porthos had come to try and help her as well. It was unexpected to see the Regent due to the words he expressed at the Royal Court meeting the week before and many talks with him since. She was so very glad to see friendly faces.

Remembering, she pictured it in her mind. As she approached Porthos there was a shifting in the crowd and all of a sudden she was face to face with a demented young woman brandishing a blade. The woman grabbed her dragging her towards a man dressed in black. She did not recognize the man at first, his face was covered but his mannerisms...it could not be him...he was dead she though…Vash…She scratched her head uncertain of her memories. It all happened so quickly and she was already confused after speaking with Ceinwyn. She absently ran her finger over the spot where the blade had pierced the skin on her neck.

What confused her even more was that the Orc shot the woman and she dropped the knife and lost her grip on her arm. She didn’t even remember moving but found herself behind Porthos as Umbra took the initiative and captured the woman and her accomplice. Defended by darkness…this was a bit of a twist. She smiled a little amused at the memory.

Returning to the scene in her mind she mused of what happened next.

She then asked Porthos to escort her home and the three of them headed out as Ceinwyn suggested that she go back to Luna and think of what was said. Porthos looked at her confused but they headed towards the moongate.

They arrived in Luna and walked to the Royal Court Buildings. The fresh air eased her pounding heart and did much to clear her head. She asked them to come in. She needed to tell them what had transpired and the offer made by Ceinwyn. She assured Porthos she had no intention of doing any of what was suggested. Oddly enough Porthos suggested she should give Ceinwyn the chest piece. She said absolutely not and after she explained the significance of the piece he conceded in agreement.

After chastising her for what she had done, asking her if she had lost her mind, and did Will know what she had planned, he made clear that it could have turned out much worse. He told her to go home and rest. She nodded and cast, returning home, exhausted and still distraught over the evening’s occurrences. She remembered sitting down in the garden where she found herself now.

Standing she walked to the desk. She sat down and picked up her quill, dipped it and taking a piece of parchment she penned a short note to Will. She cooed and a small white dove flew to her. She rolled the note and inserted it into the small golden cylender on the desk and carefully attached it to the bird’s leg. She walked to the window and released it.

My love,

There is much to tell. I will be there tomorrow to explain it to you. Stay safe and give Almael a kiss for me.

With all my heart, I love you,

Molly

Checking the doors, she headed to bed where she lay herself on top of the blankets without pulling them back. She was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
