As the morning dawned, with the ussual lack of light, the citizens of Umbra stirred to hear the call of the heralds. Shopkeepers leaving their shops to listen to the heralds cry.

King Talon and alliance Invade Umbra! Attack on pregnant women! Invaders chased away!

Merci smiled standing before the Herald as he read the scroll all the heralds had been supplied with. Warning the citizens of lsat nights attack and invasion.

It had been most unfortunate that Kel had been away on business last eve, how he would have paled to see his darling Merci, shield ablazing protecting her large pregnant stomach from the onslaught of the so-called virtuous.

It had been shocking really as Merci and Ceinwyn rushed from the sepulcher to find themselves and the other parents in the meeting, surrounded by the lightbringers alliance, with swords drawn.... Doireann, Vice Mayor of Moonglow and betrothed to Xeros of Umbra had even been in attendance for this meeting as she was newly expecting herself.

So the alliance threatened them and told them to repent and disperse. They told the Matriarchs of Umbra to disperse.. so they could what invade the lands quietly? Merci chuckled at this.

Yet the power of Umbra was strong, the darkness aiding them and their training paying off as ussual. Even surrounded, the odds piling heavily agaisnt them just as the womens heavy stomachs did, they had prevailed the invaders sent away from Umbras borders. She wondered idly of what moonglow would think as they insulted Audrina, Wife of their general and even now carrying his young, as they claimed her womb diseased and hence the excuse for trying to erradicate the pregnant ones before them. Audrina looked a bit tired a bit pale but she fought with great skill as did they all. As Merci's words rang out the battle began for she would not step aside,

My children and I would rather die for Umbra then let you invade...

Myrddin stared into their eyes with hate, Sanctans who had marched to Umbra, uninvited, craving a fight. But it wasn't just a fight, it never could be. It was a self righteous speech and a slew of names and insults. It was a mockery of an empire, it was a challenge of authority in Malas. Yes, the holy knights of Sanctus had barged into Umbra with the upper hand, hostility their only goal. The war master was all too eager to comply when finally spells flew through the air and the armies closed the few feet that had stood between than in an instantaneous clash.

The angry sounds of conflict filled the air with ringing metal, the wind whipped by spells, and the battle cries of men and women. The Umbrans did their job well as they pushed back the invading forces of Sanctus and the House Gauntlet. It did not take long for words of victory to chorus through the army of Umbra, and how proud they all were. They deserved it. A great many of them hadn't been prepared in the slightest, some of them were even mothers carrying children. But they all fought, and they all conquered. They had exceeded Myrddin's expectations.
----

All of these thoughts from the previous night's battle came to mind now as Myrddin walked the streets of Umbra, heralds shouting as he passed. Only two nights ago, Myrddin bonded with Shade in a ceremony that secured his future. The following eve, Umbra engaged in bloody battle over its own grounds and emerged victorious, despite unfavorable odds. A sign that Umbra was growing stronger too. He wondered as he walked, what might happen this eve, to strengthen the ever promising future of Myrddin the War Master, and the city he served.

As X'eros attended the meating alongside Doireann, his chosen bride and mother of his offspring, word was heard of King Talon leading his men and allies into Umbra. X'eros then joined the others Umbrans out in the front of the Sculputure.

King Talon stood there along with his followers and allies, demanding that all of Umbra shun their wicked ways. X'eros felt anger upon seeing King Talon in the lands he called home.

X'eros remained silent, containing his anger as he watched his matraich Ceinwyn speak on behalf of Umbra against the lightbringers. He also noticed his other matriach Merci standing up to Talon, even in her pregnant state.

Suddenly, Doireann was called to come out of the Sculpture by Matriach Ceinwyn. X'eros turned his head to watch his beloved come out onto the steps. King Talon then demanded Doireann to come with them and leave the company of darkness. Doireann declared that she will stay at the side of X'eros in this war. X'eros acknowledged their involvment and that she was pregnant with his seed.

As Talon declared his not being able to guarantee Doireann's safety from the swords of his followers, X'eros snarled, his anger becoming more obvious. "I will not let that heathen king attack her."

His matriach Ceinwyn then threatened to hurt Doireann if the King did not back down. As Doireann protested against this, X'eros realized that she could be at risk. However, his heart being Loyal to Umbra, he would rather his matriach endanger her than the king of Sanctus. In the end, however, the matriach did not hurt his beloved.

Suddenly, the battle broke out. As X'eros became fueled with anger, he furiously lept into battle, swinging at what ever light bringer he could impale with his war axe.

Towards the end of battle, he caught sight of his matron Ceinwyn doing battle with Marcus. X'eros joined the fight, his drow lust of battle taking his mind. As Marcus rode into Umbra, X'eros and Ceinwyn gave chase and finally took him down.
