Want to go out.

Want to go out and play..

The white-haired lady, mother, Ceinwyn, was pushing a button at the base of her tube. The fluid started to shake and became very rocky. A moment of panic and worry knew Haydn, but then she realized it was the fluid draining. Gravity pulled the water level lower, and she was sinking to the bottom of the canister with it.

What is happening..

A door opened on the front of the vessel.

So that's the way out...

Ceinwyn reached in and lifted her out of the tube. She held perfectly still, not wishing to upset this woman. Feet set on the floor, she stood dripping. She was handed a towel, so she dried herself off. When she had finished, she stood staring at her mother.

"You have been getting in and out without my help."

Haydn didn't see a reason to respond, as this was not a question. Ceinwyn continued.

"So I am just going to keep you outside of this tube."

Outside.. free... at last!

"Your training will take place with the others. You will be respectful to the matriarch, Merci, and your brother, Myrddin, as well as any other Umbran."

She was led to a room, which had clothing layed out on a bed for her. A jumper, boots. A wooden sword?

She lifted the wooden sword and began to bash it on the bed. The woman disagreed with this use of it and showed her how to swing it, properly. She spoke to her mother for the first time.

"I like to do it this way,"

She bashed the flat of the sword down onto the bed. The woman gave her an odd look, then wandered away. Haydn pulled the clothing on. Presently, the woman returned carrying a spiky ball with a long handle.

"This is a mace. You may have it."

Haydn looked at the object, eyes wide, and a smile lit up her face. She took it from the lady and looked it over. Poking a finger on one of the spikes emitted a wince. But she loved it. It was hers. She was happy. But, she remembered something she had seen below.

"Mother, there is something else that I like. Come see!"

She tugged Ceinwyn's hand, leading her onward to the cabinet in which she had stored the crossbow. She opened it and showed it to her.

"I like this alot."

Ceinwyn nodded, examining the bow.

"It isn't bad. You will need archery lessons. Hmm... A mace and a bow... Both are heavy to carry. Perhaps for now whenever you take one, leave the other behind. Now then, I have work to do. Stay out of trouble and don't wander too far."

Haydn was excited. She couldn't wait to go out and explore. And see all those people. One face came to mind immediately. The girl she had met her first day in the tavern. The one who had spoken to her, and seemed to want to be friends. Friends. She smiled and ran out of the door, letting it slam shut behind her.

Now to find that green-haired girl!
