One week earlier
Ciara placed gloves over her dark skinned hands, picked up a dirty, brown box and stepped out of her front door, her face stoic. She searched the yard, her red eyes adjusting to the light. She narrowed her eyes, spying a dead spider on the ground. She set aside the box, and went to the spider, picking it up by its body, trying desperately not to break it. She then gingerly placed it in the box, wrapping an old cloak around it.
Next, she took out her kryss, and crouched, tip-toeing around. She watched it twitch, its nose, and smiled in childish delight. It has such soft brown fur, and eyes as red as hers. She slowly snuck up behind it, and struck, piercing its heart, killing it before it had time to register the pain from the blow. With both hands, she gently picked up the now dead bunny, and cradled it like a baby, the blood from the carcass oozing down her chest where she held it close. She walked over, and gently placed the body in the bo next to the spider, wrapping the rest of the cloak around it. She then picked up the box, and brought it into the house, taking it up to her room.
She placed the box to the side and searched, finding her vial of powdered dried daemon’s blood and grave dust and her vial of powdered mix of blood moss, mandrake root, and spider’s silk., placing them on her alchemist table She then took out the spider, and placed it on a metal sheet on a separate table. She stared at it, willing all the moisture in, on and around it to move into a small ball of water. She held out her hand to catch the water, and watched it fall, hitting the tip of her hand, splashing against her face, before making a mess on the floor. *One of these days I will get that right!*
She picked up the now dried spider. And placed it in her mortar. She picked up the pestle and began to grind the spider to a fine dust. *Crunch, crunch, crunch* she heard, as she crushed the spider. She opened up a fresh vial of daemon’s blood, and poured the spider’s dust and some dust from nightshade into it. She then shook it up, mixing it well. She set that aside on the alchemist’s table, and removed her gloves. She picked up her knife on the table, and pricked her left forefinger, causing blood to start flowing from it.
She sat down on the floor and started writing different runes and alchemist’s symbols in a perfect circle with her blood, each chosen carefully for this task. She took then went to the table, took the bunny out, carefully holding it with one arm while holding the mixtures with her right hand. She went in, carefully stepping into the circle, and placed the bunny in the center, chest side up. She then poured most of the blood mixture into the hole in his heart. She then poured some of her own blood from the cut into the mix, and swirled it. She sat down and poured out the other powders in a neat pile, the mage one to her right and the necromancy pile to the left. She sat down, and poured the rest of the blood mixture on both hands, coating each palm thoroughly. Now all her preparations was done. Soon, her poisonous bunny would be complete.
Staring at the brown fur, Ciara breathed in deep, placing each hand on their designated pile of reagents, and screamed, “Uus Corp Vas Ylem Rel!” She felt a surge of power run through her, filling the air with an almost electrical current. She smiled, feeling her white braids move in the power, imagining men, women, and globs of grass fallen, dead with sharp teeth marks on their ankles, a small innocent bunny next to them. Finally, the air stilled, and Ciara opened her eyes slowly, the anticipation almost too much to bear. There in front of her, was the bunny, up, alive, breathing, and with eight legs. *Eight legs!* That definitely wasn’t supposed to happen. But suddenly the bunny opened its mouth in a pseudo-yawn, showing to sharp teeth. She nodded, then got up, and looked under her bed, knocking a half eaten apple out of the way, to get a rat. She picked the creature up by the scruff, watching it fight her as she walked back to the bunny. She placed the rat before the bunny in a sacrificial manner. The bunny stared at it, its little nose twitching, before lunging in a murderous rage, falling upon… the apple. Ciara watched in despair as it began to suck the juice from the bite it had made with it’s incisors. She turned back to the table, and opened up a new journal, and wrote,
Experiment 1 - Failure
Undead Spiderbunny
Codename USeB
And proceeded to write the information within, hearing the unusual sounds behind her of a bunny climbing walls behind her. |
