Tay adored his conversations with the Matriarch. He enjoyed the fact that Ceinwyn would actually talk to him, without pain spikes. Each time the two talked Tay learned more about himself and his parents. He had finally learned the secret of his birth and who his rightful parents were.

"Do I have to stay at home Matriarch? I don't really find it fitting there anymore and I don't really get along with mother right now. It makes complete sense, but I don't know." Tay shrugged slightly.

Ceinwyn leaned back in the chair and comtemplated. "Well, my daughter Haydn is getting a place of her own soon. You can move in with her." She nodded. "I'll have the builders add another room for you, if you'd like."

Tay smiled brightly. "I don't really know your daughter Matriarch, but I'd be honored. Do I have to marry her? Lately theres a lot of talk about arranged marriages."

"Hmm, I hadn't quite thought of that. It isn't to bad of an idea Tay. What do you think?"

Tay shook his head slightly at her response. "I don't wish to end up like my "mother" and "father". If I'm to marry it, I'd like to care about the girl and have her care about me as well. But, mother always tells me that love cloudes your vision, makes you weak."

"Tay, haven't we talked about this before?"

"Oh, oh yes! I remember now. You told me that love gave people something to fight for. It could cause a person to fight stronger and to be more persistent."

Ceinwyn nodded towards Tay. He smiled in response.

"Make sure you ask your mother if you can move in with Haydn." Ceinwyn ordered.

* * *

It had been sometime since Audina and Tay actually spoke. Aside from his training with Beowulf and Moonglow's Champion, his studying with Moonglow Scholars and his private training in Umbra, he was rarely at home. He liked it like that, last time they had talked, it hadn't gone over so well.

"Ah my son." Audrina spoke, standing up from the chair and approaching Tay.

"Mm, funny story. Gave me a chuckle, surprisingly announced at WIT, in front of everyone." Tay spoke coldly. Audrina listened. "Turns out, I'm an M'real. Raised as a lie."

Audrina merely laughed. "Yes it's true, I assume you know the story? How I chose not to kill you, but to take you in and raise you?"

Tay nodded once. "I'll get right to my point. I wish to leave home, I have been offered a room in Haydn's new house. The Matriarchs daughter."

Audrina's eyes widened slightly. Tay knew his mother -strived- for the Matriarchs approval, as did every other Umbran.

"You're going to live with the Matriarchs daughter?"

"Oh yes." Tay replied. "We discussed a possible marriage between Haydn and I. I decided against it though." Tay spoke his words carefully, watching his mother.

"You what? Why would you refuse such an offer? You could marry the Matriarchs daughter, do you know what that would do for our family?" Audrina seemed slightly annoyed more than anything.

Tay crossed his arms and looked at his mother, he smirked. "I am already the Matriarchs child. You and I, the rest of the Umbrans, we are the Matriarchs children."

"Do not lecture me boy!" Audrina spoke coldly.

Tay shrugged a bit. "So I assume it's fine if I go live with Hadyn?"
Audrina nodded

"Listen, above all else, you're still my mother. Even if we're not blood, you raised me and chose not to kill me. I respect you and Beowulf and look to you two as my parents, no matter what." Tay said to his mother.

"Then respect me like a son respects their mother." She replied.

"You can also cherish me like a mother cherish's her child." Tay spoke, waiting for a reaction.

Audrina laughed. "You're more of an object. A very prized object, you can do wonders for our family."

Tay shook his head slightly, disappointed in her response.

"Oh and you remember Euana? Your old nanny? She helped raise you." Audrina asked

Tay nodded and smiled. "I do! I really liked her."

"Ya. Thought I'd tell you, I had her killed after you left Caina. Alright run along." Audrina turned and sat back in her chair.

Tay stood speechless. He had taken blows from his father, he had clashed swords with Umbras Champion, felt the blunt pain from monsters. None of that had hurt as much as his mothers words.
