LaBelle knelt at the foot of her bed, head resting there,
arms curled beneath. Emotions rampant, she attempted
to interpret the night's Regency meeting. When the lady
attired in black had called her hypocrite, the paladin woman's
heart sank. Either the woman did not understand what
defined a hypocrite, or she had not been transparent
enough. For there was no pretending or falter in her
practice. Only the application of it to serve others,
not herself.

Near vespers LaBelle moved to her dresser and slipped
the formal garments of Regency color from her body.
She donned a robe and eloped from her footwear.
Sliding into her bed coverings the words of the
woman attired in black yet again rang out,
"I hope you can sleep at night." The words
were spat at her like harsh embers flickering up
from a blaze. LaBelle tossed. She rolled. Moreover
she could not escape the echo of argument. What
seemed commonsense, and prudent to her was turned
and twisted into individualistic idiot compassion, and
concise superficial examination.

She turned and rolled in her bed as the hours pressed
into the night. When sleep came it was intermittent;
resonating the argument carried on at the table.
Before the first light she rose and moved with an
unlit lantern down the stairs. Nearing the groundfloor
light source she opened the cover of her own and
passed a spark between them. Returning to her
chambers LaBelle settled into her writing desk.

These scrolls slowly circulate, from city upon city until many have seen them; in the hands of laymen, on shelves of libraries, and in the desks of a few nobles can they be found.
