The attack came surprisingly from the shadows as he reached to grab her. Dodging back and out of the way, she narrowly avoided the arm that swung past her. He swiped again with his right arm, to which she once more barely escaped. Hopping backwards a couple of steps, she won a better look at this "Dark Man".

Black were his short hair and glassy eyes. Eyes she would remember ever after. They bore into her with all the hatred she had ever imagined as he strode forward to attempt to capture her, once more.

She brought her right arm up over her head to her quiver, feeling for the soft tuft of the end of a bolt. As he pressed forward at her, she drew the bolt from the quiver and brought it down to her side, just as his hands closed around her neck.

"I have you now, thief. You are mine."

His black eyes became red orbs of anger as his hands slowly constricted around her neck. Her air supply was cut off, and she weakly pulled at his grip with her left hand, to no avail. She could not call for help, as both air and life were slipping slowly from her.

Her right arm brought forward the bolt with all the stength she was able to muster. She slammed it home into his stomach, and was rewarded by the release of his hands from around her neck.

She sat upright in bed, grasping her own neck and gasping air in large quantities.

A dream... it was just a dream..

Taking her hands from her throat, she noticed one of them was soaked with blood. Quickly, she checked herself for any sign of injury, but found nothing.
