"I am NOT fat!"
Ditto kicked the bed bench that so loved to insult her. Or perhaps it was only voices in her head again. She did seem to be the only one in the keep that argued with the furniture.
Her anger didn't last long. Ditto had been extremely happy lately. The walk home with Tarothin had been the cause. Yes, the walk had been nice but it was what he had said during the walk that was responcible for her chipper mood as of late. Her husband had smiled when he had said, " He will... appear in due time."
At first Ditto was confused by this, but after creating the portal that took them home, a revelation of what his words must have meant, and the smile he gave when saying them, hit her as she walked up the steps. Daerauko...appear? He must already be home!! She remembered how much he loved to hide and then appear suddenly to frighten her in a playful game whenever he returned home. It was a tradition between mother and son.
She had waited. Stood very still, her eyes scanning the entrance way. Waiting for her son's game. It didn't come.
She waited in the throne room, but still nothing. All through the night she waited in each room of the keep and then started over but still nothing.
The next day, Ditto tried something else. She would find him! And so, she went over to ever plant, every chair, everywhere she could think of that someone could hide, she would jump forward and yell "BOO!"
A little less than an hour into the search, found her in the throne room where Tarothin was speaking to someone. She continuing her jumping and yelling. Her husband turned to look at her a moment, slightly amused. "Ditto, what are you doing?"
She stopped and turned to face him. "I am lookin for Daer. I have nau seen him yet. I know that he is here somewhere. And I know exactly what ya meant when ya said what ya did on the walk. He's home." Ditto grinned wide and went to continue her happy search for her son, while Tarothin, turned back to the one he'd been speaking with.
They had company, but she was so concentrated on finding Daerauko that she scarcely noticed. Thinking him just one of Tarothin's wraith's, she failed to notice that this one was very different indeed. It would be later in the evening, after interrupting Tarothin's meeting with him, that she would learn who it was, and certainly not one of her husband's underlings, but something, someone much more powerful. One whom she had not seen for quite some time.
She was happy to see this mysterious being. And thought that perhaps, with his help, she could at last find a way to destroy those things that she hated more than the Drowess Faith herself, the Shadow Wraiths. They would pay for nearly destroying her extended family, for partially paralyzing her daughter's legs, and would certainly suffer for torturing her Tarothin and keeping him away for so many years.
It was hard for Ditto to hate. Hate was not something she normally felt. It was her nature to find something in almost everyone she met, some quality, some interesting little facet that she truely liked. But the Shadow Wraiths....the mere mention of them could darken her eyes and send her fingers plotting a spell of destruction.
Not wanting to dwell on such an unfun subject during a happy time, she shook thoughts of the wraiths from her mind and continued her search for Daerauko, after Tarothin mentioned that he might be..hunting.
