Pt.2 Ditto's Search: "Twisted Irony"
Four days had gone by with no sign of Daerauko. She had annoyed Tarothin daily on it, but his answers the same, and said as if unconcerned, Hiding or hunting. And he would wave her away from disturbing him.
For the first three days, his unconcerned attitude helped her feel that nothing was wrong, but now, she was getting worried. Perhaps Tarothin hadn't realised how much time had gone by. Daerauko would not come home and just go off hunting for this long without speaking at least a greeting to his mother. Chaotic he was, but not irresponcible. So again she went to speak with Tarothin, maybe he could get Imy to send just a couple of soldiers with her to look for Daerauko.
And now, Ditto stood in the throne room. After making the request for Tarothin to speak with her, it was her second attempt that day. She was about to open her mouth when Tarothin turned to his wife and spoke, acknowledging her request earlier. He would listen now.
She spoke quickly to him, afraid he might wave her away once more before she was finished. Surprisingly, he smiled down at her. He had a surprise for her. One, he said, that she would have to see with her own eyes. He left the room to get their son.
Ditto was happy and waited impatiently in anticipation for Daerauko's arrival. But she pondered what Tarothin had said. The words were nice, but the tone was odd.
It seemed like hours to Ditto, but had only been a few moments. The coldness of a breeze ran over her skin, chilling her suddenly. Out from the shadows a Wraith appeared, frightening her enough to jump slightly before she caught herself and stared at the hated thing. She groaned inwardly in extreme annoyance. 'Not now', she thought to herself. She wanted her reunion with Daer to be a happy one, not one haunted so, by a Shadow Wraith.
But the Wraith began to take on shape. It whispered to her in it's chilling wraith speak. She could not understand. She told it to go away, but its form only became clearer and very soon she saw it's face. Hollow though it was, she looked into the face so much like that of her son. What cruel jest was this? "Stop it! Don't you ever take on that form again!, Ditto yelled. She yelled angry words to that thing that she hated. How dare it try to look like someone she loved. It shook it's head. It would not leave.
Ditto, screamed for Tarothin. Her mind reeled. She did not know what was going on. Getting a hold of herself, her chest heaving with angry breaths, she glanced that the wraith had vanished from her sight, and Tarothin's footfall came in behind her. It took her a long while to turn to her husband. Still angered and confused. What had just happened? Was it by chance the wraith came to her, and appeared as her son on it's own? Or was this all some sort of twisted, cruel joke planned by the one who once claimed to love her? _________________ **************************************
