Doireann heard a commotion coming from the stables. She peaked out, watching Ciara leave the stables, whispering, and then head for the tavern. Curious, Dory went to the stable, openning the door. There, inside on the floor curled under a blanket, was a small girl, only about eight or nine. This is no place for a child, she thought. The child laid where Stubborn liked to lay. She looked closer at the child, noticing the pointed ears. With a soft smile, she went to the dungeon, and, after releasing her children's newest prisoner, began to scrounge for a something better. She found locked away a small bed, a quilt, a small table, and a candle. She took each to the small stable, one piece at a time, and set them down around the child, arranging them carefully. She then picked the child up, noticing the chain around her neck, and frowned. She carefully, placed the chain next to the child, and took out a soft bear rug fur for the floor. Next she went outside, picking a few pretty purple flowers, and placed them on the table next to the bed.
With a soft kiss, she made sure the fire was out on the candle, and left. She was at the stairs when she saw her daughter come back, and watched closely. Ciara went into the stable, and back out quickly. Doireann hid as she watched her daughter go upstairs. She snuck back into the stable and smiled. There, next to the child, lay a handful of liccorice, wrapped tightly by a small black ribbon. Doireann smiled softly to herself, and went upstairs and crawled into bed with her husband, the smile never leaving her face. |
