Dylan d'Rue was not quite what you call the average child. He was artificially born and grown, like the rest of his 3 siblings, Dominick, Reine, and Alexis. Like Reine, he was gifted by his father with a set of demon wings. Normally, he kept them concealed beneath a cloak or a heavy robe. From his mother, and quite unlike his sister, however, he had inherited an affinity with all things cold. This was a trait he shared with his half-brother, Korin. All in all, one day he hoped to be a somewhat capable ice fiend. He just couldn't help it if he had an unusually strong weakness to fire. Why, even some light caused him to cringe at times.

But, the one light in his life that did not cause him to cower was that of his sister, Reine. He was unusually devoted to her, and from childhood had always tried to follow her around. Wherever Reine went, he wanted to go, too. When she was gone he would ask his mother where she had gone and when she would be back. Then he would retire to his room and practice spells, all the while keeping an eye on the window over the front door to see if she was nearer to returning.

That is why, when Dylan learned that his beloved sister had moved out of their home and into Warlord Willow's barracks for the WIT children, that he decided that he would go, as well.

Noone understood the depth of his devotion to her. He could hardly stand not to have his sister in sight, it was almost physically unbearable for him. His eye was always on her, adoringly, and he was always over protective of her when there were other people around, especially boys. He understood that the older they grew, the harder it would become for him to hide this unnatural fondness.
