It was the beginning of Wep Renpet, the new year festival and her father entered her room as the final preparations were being made. His stern appearance always softened when he saw her, "If your mother could see you now, she would be pleased at how you have grown.", he patted her shoulder gently in approval.

Tia smiled at him, "I wish mother was here, and you are gone so often.", she said with a slight frown.

"It is no time for frowns, this is an honor for us today. You are to meet your betrothed and make the family proud.",he uttered in a fatherly manner and watched her expression in the mirror.

Tia knew it was her destiny, she was the eldest and was to lead the family. The house servants spoke of her husband to be and giggled amongst themselves, but she was not pleased at the arrangement. Even though she knew Ramses when they were children, the idea of marrying him after not seeing him for so many years was not her top priority, she looked at her father, "Why does he not betroth himself to Ishtar?", she asked.

Her father laughed and chided her, "You know she is far too young yet. Her life as a priestess makes her path very different. Her place is holy, you know that."

She stood, looking at herself in the mirror. Her father was a general in the armies and still spared no expense for this day. She could hear the music and celebration outside in the streets of the city. Taking a deep breath, she took her fathers arm as they left the house to join the procession. At the end, he will present her properly to the co-regent she was to marry. It was rumored he was to be next in line for the throne and she should be thrilled at the status it would grant her, but it took effort to hide her disdain beneath her smile.

Her father whispered to her, "Please be on your best behavior, I postponed this long enough. He held her arm and gave it a gentle squeeze as a reminder. Both looked at each other before walking the long carpeted area to where the Pharaoh and his co-regent were sitting. The long walk was agony, each step had to be made in a precise manner. Her deep green eyes focused in the carpet in front of her until they reached the promenade where the royal court stood. She bowed deeply and simultaneously with her father . The both rose and stood straight. She saw the general eying her behind the Pharaoh and tried to avert her gaze and her world blurred as she heard her father make his humble announcements.

As if in a trance things seems to happen in a dream like state, the General Ramses came forward and took her hand leading her to a seat next to him as her father followed. He tried to joke with her to get her to laugh and lighten the situation. yet, she sat poised in proper fashion and kept her focus on the festivities before them. It was going to be a long evening.

Dinner in the royal palace came late. Her escort sat beside her and made more attempts at lighthearted conversation and joke to get her attention. "This does not need to be all bad Tia, I knew you years ago.", he whispered and she could not help but give in with a slight smile. "We have days of this to look forward too, at least pretend to enjoy yourself." She giggled a bit.

The next few days, his charm grew on her and they spent the majority of their time together exchanging old stories from their childhood and laughing. Perhaps the match was not so bad after all, she thought to herself. The next few nights of dancing and dining were becoming delightful and she knew in a few more days at the end of the festival they were to be married. Yes, she would be happy with him. They had rekindled their friendship and now it was as if they never were separated. Now she understood why her father made this arrangement and was happy he approved.

As the Festivities came to their final day, the Palace was in an uproar in preparations for the wedding. Ready, to take the next step in her life, she slowly made her way to stand near her family and her future husband as a the priest began chanting holy verses to join them. Then, the unexpected happened, lighting flashed from the heavens, and knocked her from her feet. A flash of energy and waves of light seemed to suspend them among the stars. Her father was nowhere to be seen, just her sister and brother, in the distance she saw Ramses.

It seemed like an eternity, they tumbled through the stars. As quick as it began it ended, and all of them were now deep in a forest in a land they did not know. Disoriented and dazed, all of them gathered together, now thye needed to figure out where they were and what they were to do...
