Determined to perfect her magical and bowman's skills, Demetria had been spending a good deal of time around Old Haven and taunting spectral spellbinders and the like. To the elven child, it was wondrous and exciting to work the skills that she'd wanted to have for as long as she could remember. She wanted the cold lady to be pleased with her when she at last went to her and revealed her talents.

Her glee was apparent to all who might have seen her as she ran about in a seemingly random pattern, a dozen magic wielders hitting her with spells. The sweat running into her eyes was of no matter, it would wash off and her bath would be well deserved.

The joy quickly turned to the feeling of a cold ball of lead sitting in her belly when she noticed the Humanis man. It seemed as if every time she turned a corner, there he sat upon his spirit-essence ridgeback. Though Deme couldn't remember his name, she did remember him from around Umbra. It seemed like he was always around when that one barmaid was working. Yes! That was him alright.

What could he possibly want? And if her memory served her well and this was who she thought it was, she knew she stood not a chance should he draw a weapon on her.

The elven child squared her shoulders and did her best to pretend she wasn't frightened. But she was.

There was some sort of dinner party happening, and Demetria was permitted to go with the group. It was both exciting and a little scary, the scary part being a child among so many adults and knowing she had to behave and not draw the attention of the cold lady.

A pretty pink gate was made and they all went to the host's house. Greetings were made as the party stepped inside, and Demetria's gaze fell on the Humanis man she had run into in Old Haven. She felt the lead ball return to her belly. Walter, she heard somebody from Umbra call him. That was his name.

All throughout dinner, Demetria tried to remain unnoticed though she found it difficult to not look at the man. He frightened her, and she had nothing to base it on. He was a Humanis--that wasn't the fear, not really. Lots of humans hated elven beings.

Soon enough she found herself distracted by the command to help move a corpse to Umbra for experimentation by miss Merci. It was a welcome diversion.

Accompanying Isk to meetings, and social dinners was not uncommon work for Walter. Being a large figure in the Humanis movement Isk was a target for all sorts of attacks.

This dinner was innocent enough, Walter and Isk had arrived early to Sid's large castle. Not long after the armada from Umbra came in. Where he spotted that elf again. The one he saw when Walter was making rounds about Haven. Insane elf's usually catch Walter's attention. And this young one was a perfect example of a loose cannon of an elf. Rumored to have launched her share of arrows at warriors and Umbra soldiers.

The dinner quickly turned ugly, from Vampire Umbran's drinking blood, to pyromaniac mages lighting food on fire. How they passed as important people with these table manners amazed him. Where Human's would consider their antics and table habits repulsive and rude, perhaps it's just common for Drow and undead, to feast on living blood so openly.

This hit Walter, he has a son who will be growing up around these things. His mind raced on and on.

"Will they teach him such behavior is acceptable?"

"Will he be taught the drow way of life that we despise so much?"

"The last thing I will stand for is having my son poisoned by this kind of behavior."

He noted to himself he will definitely be needed to send a message to meet with the teachers and leaders in Umbra. Last thing he wants to see is his son sitting at a dinner table acting like these people.
