She quickly grabbed her head with both hands, shaking it fiercly, hoping the pain would go away. The headaches had been somewhat worse the last few days, and more frequent. Most of the time she was able to ignore them, but it seemed like late at night they got worse. This was the worst one in days. She reached into her bag, pulling out some herbs the healers had given her hoping they would help this time as they hadn't the last few times. At least they seemed to help with some of the aches she had from the constant battling, and helping those that had fallen in battle.
Her mind raced through the events of the last few days faster than she could comprehend some of them. It made it difficult to concentrate on things she needed to, things of great importance. She looked to the dresser that held the threads in it, tears began to build in her eyes. The pain they brought to her wasn't physical, but emotional. The threads seemed to speak to her through visions, showing her things that were both frightening and pleasant. Some of the visions were only small fragments of past events and memories, and lacked the underlying meaning that connected them to the events in Moonglow. Vaen was trying to help her piece the visions together and try to come up with some hidden meaning or message that would give them some explanation or understanding as to why the events in Moonglow had occured. They had others try to help interpret the messages and visions but were unable to come up with any explanation, or relationship.
She shook her head again, this time not as hard. Trying to get the thoughts of the threads out of her head and concentrate more on the decision she only had a week to make. She looked out over her balcony towards the darkness of the forest. The tears that had seemed to stop, began to build even quicker now, and she was unable to hold some of them back.
Is it all worth it?
Sacrificing those she cared about.. Her friends.. The only real family she really had anymore..
Is knowledge and true understanding of something really worth losing so much?
Could she really risk not just her own life, but others for simply knowing more about something and truely understanding it?
Would she even be able to obtain those things? It could all be some trap or trick..
Shaking her head again, and quickly wiping the tears out of her eyes, she closed her eyes tightly wishing for the answer to her questions. Wishing the pain to go away... Wishing she could at least even talk to someone for advice..
Maybe I can.. Maybe I can get the advice I seek without giving too much information away..
She thought about how she could go about doing such a thing, and who would be the best person to speak to. It gave her a small bit of hope and brought a small smile to her face as she figured it out. She didn't have much time though. While a week at times seemed like an eternity, it wasn't and this decision would possibly be with her for an eternity. And with everything going on, she had even less time to get things done. She looked around her bag for her reagents, thinking she would head to Moonglow tonight. She quickly changed her mind as her headache began to pound sharply again and instead headed inside to attempt to sleep for the night. |
