The three drow seemed to be congregating on a regular basis; perhaps it was by chance, and then again perhaps there was an underlying desire on all their parts to spend time among their kind. So scant were the opportunities to speak in their native tongue, at the very least there was some pleasure to be gained in idle talk. They knew that their language often offended people but cared not; it was to one another they spoke, with a handful of exceptions.
Bae'vin and the male known as Veszzt often seemed to argue and be on the verge of hurling insults at one another, though both usually managed to hold their tongues in check in public. Perhaps the day would come that their attitudes truly collided and the fallout would be considerable--privately or otherwise. Nimrana often used his tactful skills to quell the thinly veiled angst between Veszzt and Bae'vin.
In recent meetings there seemed to be an undercurrent of energy humming between the three ebony skinned wanderers. Tensions were definitely running high and it wasn't necessarily always anger.
Ironically, it seemed that all three were adept at denying what seemed inevitable. Bae'vin refused to admit her weaknesses to herself or another; Veszzt always convinced he had to prove himself to himself. At times it seemed only Nimrana seemed at relative ease, as he often seemed preoccupied with finding carnal pleasures where he could find them, and often seemed unconcerned with little else.
The desiress were rising right along with the denials. |
