Dear Aless,
I have decided to spend a bit of what spare time I have trying my hand at growing flowers and I was wondering if you by chance have any seeds I can start with? I will be at my home in Vesper should you want to come by for a visit!
Love, Brianha

Alessandra looked at the note she had left on one of the crates she had been packing to move and could not have thought that this simple letter and request would change the rest of her life. She had made plans with Mave to finish a quest she had started earlier, but she had missed her friend terribly and this quest really didn’t have a time limit on it. Making her decision, she quickly penned a letter to Mave…

Dearest Mave,

I know that we have made plans to finish this quest of mine, but I have received a letter from Brianha and I would like very much to go and visit with her before we journey to Ilshenar. I am sure she would love to see you as well, she always is asking about you whenever we are together. I will meet you at half past the hour at the most northwestern of Vesper, near the bank.

All my love, Alessandra

Alessandra went to the roof of her house and picked out some of the rarer seeds she had kept over her years of gardening and smiled knowing that they were being passed on to someone that she cared about as much as someone who had been related to her by blood. She and Brianha had been the best of friends since the moment they had met, and they certainly had a knack for trouble finding them, especially when they were together. They had many times of laughter together, and many tears and fears shared, and Aless considered her a sister in every way possible. After picking out the seeds, she searched through her rune book and came across the one that was marked for the bank in Vesper, closed her eyes and softly chanted the words that carried her from her home in Cove to the beautifully cobbled streets of Vesper. Opening her eyes and gaining her sense of directions, she quickly summoned her eternal mount and made her way to where she had made plans to meet Mave. She noticed a figure across the bridge and as she got closer she recognized her dear friend Brianha, making her way back to her house from a trip into the town. She quickly dismounted and the two friends embraced and both started talking and laughing and chattering as though no time had passed since they had been together. Brianha asked about the recent wedding between Asher and Brittany and Alessandra made sure to go into great detail, describing all she could remember. She was about to tell her the story of the drunken pirate maiden when she noticed two figures coming toward them across the bridge, once enemies across the field of battle, now Vaen and Mave were brothers in battle and beyond. Alessandra smiled fondly, thinking how things could certainly turn out differently than you thought they would. It seemed like only a brief time had passed since Vaen and Mave had been fighting on opposite sides of the battle in Luna, and now Aless knew there was nothing Mave wouldn’t do for this man he considered his brother. Seeing the two of them coming across the bridge, joking and laughing and in such good spirits, Aless knew that she and Mave had indeed made the right decision to follow their hearts and help Vaen. She knew that both men were very worried about the safety of the people of Moonglow and the rift that had been opened, but she also knew that both men were very happy. It was good to see Mave so happy and laughing with his fellow comrades in Moonglow. She too was finding her place there, and knew that they would be very happy there for a very long time.

The four of them then continued on to Brianha’s home in Vesper, where they were greeted by a man in a hooded robe. Aless noticed both Mave and Vaen grip their weapons a little bit tighter, but as soon as the man spoke both men relaxed and broke into wide grins. Aless also knew the man’s voice and a smile crossed her lips. Their good friend Max had returned, although for how long he would not say. The five of them stood in the forest of Vesper, telling tales of times past, how Max had once been a joust champion, and he was sorry to hear he had just missed a joust that very evening. It seemed once again as though all was right, but soon Max announced that he must retire and they all said their farewells. It was then that the subject was soon turned to marriage, and how exactly the subject came up, Aless was not quite sure, and at first it began as lighthearted and good natured teasing between the two couples, Brianha and Vaen both enjoying seeing Mave and Aless fidget and squirm under scrutiny. Aless turned to Brianha and grinned good naturedly “show us how it is done… you ask us when we will wed, but I have yet to see the two of you do the same?” Brianha smirked slightly and looked at Vaen and said “I would, but stubborn over there hasn’t asked me yet” and laughed as she pointed to Vaen. Vaen chuckled shaking his head “I asked the last time.” Brianha laughed and nodded, “aye, you did…” Aless looked at Brianha and remembering an earlier conversation they had said jokingly “I guess it is your turn…” Brianha grinned at Aless, but Mave took that moment to turn the conversation back into one of humor, but it was not long that it became serious again and Vaen was asking Aless if she would marry Mave. Would she marry Mave?? They had been through so much together, good and bad, she couldn’t imagine ever loving another man the way she loved him… completely, without hesitation and with unwavering devotion. She knew she would walk beside this man through the Abyss if that was where he was going, whether he asked her or not, she would be there. Brianha was right that they loved each other, Alessandra was sure of Mave’s love and devotion, even when things were unsaid, it did not mean that the feeling was not there.

Mave began arguing with Vaen all the reasons that he did not think marriage would work, Mave was a man of honor, but also they were both men that when the battle came they would be there, no questions asked of them. Would it be fair to Brianha and her, should something happen… Brianha threw her hands up in the air exasperated and Vaen said calmly “Mave, the life we lead will always be this way… never let it get in the way of true happiness that stands right beside you…” Vaen looked at Alessandra and back at Mave before continuing, “you are a man of honor, Mave, yes?” Brianha interjected in her soft yet stubborn voice looking between Mave and Aless, “She is still here no matter what you have been through… always loving you…” Mave nodded slowly and looked at Vaen, “Very well then…” and he reached over and lifted Brianha up gently and placed her next to him. “Heed your own advice, Vaen. This shall be yet another adventure that we will take together…” Vaen grinned and looked at Brianha and up at Mave. “You will have to let her go...” Mave grinned and said teasingly, “Hope she doesn’t run…” Brianha laughed at Mave and shook her head, pushing her dark auburn curls out of her face, “oh no… we have already done that to each other…” Vaen looked at Bri and a smile formed on his mouth as he started to speak… “Well then. Bri. Many roads we have travelled. Many times we have fought. But here we are still. Obviously it is meant to be. And therefore, again I ask... Will you marry me?” Brianha smiled brightly at Vaen and while laughing replied, “damn you man… I was going to ask you! I had it all planned even!” Brianha looked over at Alessandra and winked with a grin as Vaen wrapped his arms around her in a gentle and loving embrace. “Foiled your plans!” Vaen said with a lighthearted chuckle as he hugged Brianha tight to him. Alessandra smiled happily watching the two of them, and suddenly she heard Mave standing right beside her clearing his throat slightly with a nervous smile playing on his lips. When he began to speak, Alessandra thought that her heart would come right through her chest… “My dear Alessandra... you have stood by my side no matter how far I slipped... you have always helped to bring me back... keep me true... and fill my heart... I will live to protect you and provide for you if you will do me the Honor of marrying me…” Alessandra had to swallow hard and blink her eyes several times to keep her vision clear during the time Mave was speaking, and although she knew they were there, Vaen and Brianha slipped out of that space and time and she wrapped her arms around him and looking up into his loving eyes she nodded, knowing that he knew already all the things that she could not find the words to say at that moment. Mave lifted her up into his arms, holding her tight as though he was afraid to let go, but finally placing her back on the ground with a soft and tender kiss. Aless looked over and blushed lightly to see Vaen and Brianha still there, but laughed when Brianha asked her if that meant yes. Alessandra laughed and looked up at Mave and shouted to the sky and all those that could hear, “yes!” Brianha laughed and hugged Alessandra tight, but then Aless pulled back and looked between Brianha and Vaen, but before she could say anything Mave was saying what she was thinking… ”she still hasn’t…” Vaen smiled slightly and nodded slightly to Mave, “she said yes in her own way…” and Brianha smiled as she said at the same moment, “he knows…”

There were more hugs all around and talk quickly turned to planning of two weddings. The men were talking about their own plans about parties and such, and Aless couldn’t help but blush and giggle at Mave’s reaction to some of Vaen’s suggestions. Vaen suddenly smiled and looked between Mave and Alessandra, his arm around Brianha, “what would you all think about a joint wedding?” Brianha smiled and nodded, “I would like that…” and looked at Alessandra and Mave. Alessandra and Mave looked at each other with a smile and back to Vaen and Brianha. “It would seem like the best plan...” Mave said. Alessandra looked at Brianha and smiled softly as she spoke…” you have always been a sister to me and I cannot think of anyone other than Mave that I would rather share the most important day of my life with…” and Aless reached over to hug Brianha close. They couples talked a bit more, but soon Brianha and Vaen were saying goodbyes, and after another round of hugs all around, Brianha and Vaen left, leaving Mave and Alessandra standing alone in the middle of the Vesper woods. For the first time in years, Alessandra was nervous as a school girl and she could tell Mave was as well. She asked where he wanted to go and with a smile he replied “what is to be your home…” Hearing what was said, but it not sinking in, Alessandra closed her eyes and opened a portal to her home in Cove and started to walk towards it when Mave took her hand and led her towards his tower, shaking his head and chuckling softly. It suddenly hit Alessandra and trying to make light of her mistake she tilted her head coyly and asked Mave with a grin, “my home? Will you not be living here as well?” That made Mave chuckle again and he grinned back at her with an impish grin, “I suppose I could be talked into hanging around a bit…” Alessandra laughed and let him open the door to the tower for her and as she entered the tower she was so familiar with, suddenly she became shy and nervous again, knowing that they were both about to embark into uncharted territory. She had only a few times stayed in the tower overnight, and those times she had, she knew as soon as she had been asleep Mave moved elsewhere, knowing she was safer in his home, but at the same time being a man of honor and integrity.

She slowly removed her cloak and nervously tucked her hair behind her ear, watching as Mave removed his outer garments and weapons, and carefully put them where they would be at quick grasp should he need them. She suddenly thought about them being in the same bed together and she could feel the heat rising in her cheeks and she turned quickly looking at the fire, hoping that Mave would not notice her reaction. Mave looked at her and tilted his head slightly, looking a bit concerned “are you okay m’dear?” Alessandra laughed softly as she nodded, still not trusting herself to look at him and speak at the same time, “yes.. I am… I am just a bit nervous that is all…” she turned slowly and looked at him and Mave arched an eyebrow slightly, “nervous?” Alessandra looked at him at to the door of his... their, bedroom and nodded, “I… um... well…never…” she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and bit her lower lip as she looked back at the fireplace, her cheeks flushing. Mave cleared his throat lightly and as he washed his hands and face and then proceeded “ahh… um… yes… Perhaps we should have a glass of wine in front of the fire before we retire?” Alessandra nodded her head in agreement and soon Mave had poured them each a glass of wine and they were sitting in front of the fireplace talking about the tournament that had taken place earlier in the day and their talk turned to how different things were now then they had once been, neither of them wanting to change a thing, knowing it led them to where they are now. Mave wrapped his arm gently around Alessandra and pulled her close; gently kissing her on the top of the head. Aless looked up at him with a smile, tilting her head and asking softly, “is it allowed?” Mave looked down at her and grinned slightly as he replied, “is what allowed?” Alessandra smiled and leaned up to kiss him gently before replying, “being so perfectly happy and content?” She sighed happily and snuggled back into his arms. Mave grinned down at her gently running his fingers through her hair and replying “Blah! I don’t think you are content with me… I will simply do until a stronger, better mannered version comes along.” Alessandra shook her head and giggled softly “I don't think anyone else could put up with me for this long. You know... I hit old men with my stick when they make me mad...have wild ideas for festivals even when there is a possibility that the entire city might come to an end tomorrow... set buildings on fire when I am bored and get my head stuck in orc masks that are cursed....” Alessandra trailed off as the giggles got the better of her. “Don’t forget turning into a tree for no good reason…” Mave added with a chuckle. Alessandra replied, "I have a very good reason... it bothers you and Vaen, which made it all the more enjoyable to do!" Alessandra looked up at him and smiled “we have been through a lot, you and I, haven’t we?” Mave looked down at her with a smile and kissed her forehead “Enough to get us to this point m'dear, which is all that matters…” Alessandra nodded and smiled softly, knowing it might not have been all good, but to change it would change the ending, and this is where she was meant to be.

Alessandra looked back at the fire and noticed that it was little more than coals by now and looked up at Mave. He looked towards the door of his chambers and then to her and back to the fire before speaking “it is getting late m’ love and I do have patrols of the cities in the morning…” He let out a long breath and swallowed hard before looking back at Alessandra…”I have faced down deamons, dragons and hundreds of men in battle, I will not be scared or defeated by this…” and with that Mave picked Alessandra up gently in his arms and made his way to the chamber door and with almost a growl, kicked the door open and carried her into the bedroom where he sat her down gently on his enormous bed. Alessandra, suddenly getting nervous again, looked down at her hands and said softly “would you rather wait until we are properly married?" Mave looked down at her and gently lifted her chin so their eyes were locked “That is simply a ceremony for the public, so that they will know what we already know... I am as committed to you know as much as I ever could be and no dress up, high and mighty, ceremony will change that… do you understand that?” Alessandra looked up at him and nodded her head “Mave, I love you with all of my heart and have for a very, very long time and there is no where you can go that I won't be there beside you…” Mave leaned down and kissed Alessandra ever so gently, and stood back up with a slight grin “I will give you time to get… comfortable…” As Aless dressed for bed, Mave saw to securing of the tower doors and the fireplace, before retiring to the room. Mave climbed into bed and leaned over to blow out the candle, only the fireplace lighting the room. He pulled the covers up and wrapped his arms around Alessandra, holding her close. Alessandra sighed softly, knowing that here in Mave’s arms; she was safe and loved like never before.

In the morning as the sun was just beginning to peek through the trees, Alessandra awoke and wondered if the night before had been only a dream, but as she looked around the room she knew it was not. She watched as Mave was getting ready to do morning patrols and looking over seeing her awake, he leaned over kissed her gently and lightly ran his fingers through her tangled hair with a grin “Go back to sleep m’ love… I will return shortly, as soon as I am done with the morning patrols and a quick scout of the rift.” With that he kissed her again and made his way to the door and looked back over his shoulder with a smile, closing the door softly as to not wake the rest of the tower, and slowly Alessandra drifted back to sleep, waiting for her prince to come home and waken her again with his gentle kisses.

Sitting back on her heels and brushing her hair out her dusty face, Brianha felt like she was in bliss even amongst the dirt and dust of packing. She shook her head thinking silently to herself that things with Vaen and her never went as planned. Grinning she thought of the plans that were foiled when he asked her yet again to be his wife. She was so looking forward to being the one to take the bull by the horns this time and asking him to marry her. Shrugging with a smile she was just as happy it had turned out in this way. She was able to share the moment with Aless and see the stars in her eyes with the proposal that she had no doubt been waiting for a long time to hear. In a way Bri almost felt guilty pushing the two of them to it, but for the love of pete someone had to get those two to stop being pig headed!
Stretching and then standing Bri decided a nap was in order. She was so tired lately. Maybe all this unpacking and now packing was finally getting to her. Climbing the stairs to their bed she snuggled in and pulled the covers up over her head. She grabbed his pillow and breathed deep filling her nostrils with his scent and then closing her eyes she fell happily asleep thinking of the possibilities of their future.
