As Gailan walked home he could sense something wrong. He felt something behind him and it wasn't good. Ahead in the road there was a bend , he decided that he would make his stand there.
As Gailan made the bend he ducked into the forest , he turned and waited . As Gailan turned he immediatly realized his mistake. He stood up straight and prepared for the blow to come. What Gailan wasn't ready for was the force inwhich the axe hit. Who ever his attacker was knew what he was and was taking every precaution to emobilize Gailan. The axe burried itself deep into his back , severing his spinal cord. Even as Gailan fell , he reached inside himself trying to repair the damage. He only need a few moments and he could go on the offensive against his attacker. Again Gailan felt his attacker new what he was facing . Immediately his attack grabbed him by the back of his head and pulled back. Gailan, busy trying to repair his spinal cord didn't notice the axe had been pulled out and lay by his side. His attacker leaned forward and whispered in his ear , " Sleep well Gailan Ventrue" As his attacker Spoke Gailan felt the point just below his left shoulder blade. Gailan's eyes widen as he realized what was happening.

As the point of the stake broke skin and began its journey to his heart , Gailan closed his eyes and excepted his fate. What surprised Gailan the most was his last thought. Not of his wife , but how he had been stabbed in the back twice in a life time , he knew that as the point of the stake touch his heart that it really didn't matter. With his eyes closed Gailan softly whispered the words in his head that Mallory would hear "You are free , M'love" With that his attacker sent the point through his heart and Gailan Ventrue was no more.........
