Xandria moved past the bundle of trees in her path, looking towards the cave She heard the rustle of leaves behind her and sighed slightly in annoyance. Her “niece” Ciara had decided that she would get to know her “aunt” better, and was determined to follow on her heals, until she knew all she could. Worse, the woman wouldn’t shut up! “Why are you part demon?” “What was mom like when you were growing up?” “Why do you have horns?” “if you put your horns in sulfuric acid, what would happen?” The last one made Xandy slightly worried as she heard the small footsteps, with the occasional “Oooh!” Another plant to be examined had apparently crossed Ciara’s pass… again.
“Ciara, do hurry. I am not going to wait for you,” she yelled and headed to the mouth of the cave. She turned around to be treated to a view of Ciara jumping, trying to reach a leaf on the last tree they had passed. Giving an even deeper sigh, Xandy reached up, grabbing the leaf, and handed it to her. “Keep up,” she stated and walked into the cave.
Ciara walked in and passed her, her mouth forming a perfect O as she stared at the gems encrusted in the cave. She tried to grab one, but failed, the gem firmly encrusted into the cave walls. Xandy motioned her forward, and let her eyes glaze over, looking at the cave with a second sight. Nothing unusual, yet, she felt as if there was more here than meets the eye. She turned back to say so to Ciara when she saw her take a step, her eyes widen. The ground crumbled beneath Ciara’s feet. Xandria watched as her niece fell through the floor, her screams resonating through out the cave.
Xandria sauntered to the hole and looked down. Ciara lay still, her body not moving, in a small lair beneath them. Xandria moved cautiously, and jumped down, standing next to her niece. A few spells later, her niece was waking, her eyes blinking. Ciara moved her hand to her head, and groaned. Then, she moved to her pack, taking out a small, white potion, and handed it to Xandria. “Can you please put this on where my head was bleeding?
Xandria took the odd potion, spreading it over the wound, and heard Ciara let out a sigh, then a gasp. Xandy looked down at the girl and then back up, following her gaze. The room was filled with books, covering every wall. The two women looked at each other and grinned, a small pact forming amongst them. |
