Merci sat up in bed Kels arm draped lazily across her thighs. She held the book up reading intently, the light of the torches slowly fading, soon she would be able to read no more. She paused, the shadows danced around her in the darkness and it was as if they beckoned to her. They took on ghostly forms whispering softly in the still air.

Yet she returned to her book ignoring these mindless incantations of distraction the subject fascinating at the very least. She was reading intently upon that which Ceinwyn had asked her to study. She found the words soon blurring before her eyes. Finally she put the book to rest, and mired in fatigue she slipped down beneath the covers, Kel’s arm unconsciously tightening around her. She stared up at the stonework of the ceiling and thoughts drifted softly in and out of her head, slowly pulling her into fitful slumber.
*************************************************************
Shakingly she spoke to Kel the next morn her eyes filled with confusion and a look of concern passing her face. Her dreams the night before had lead her thusly:

I awoke, to the sound of incessant crying and while the sound of tears is usually a joyful noise to me as it inherently means the fear of some poor fool, this crying brought a flood of emotion into my being. A strong connection was between myself and this creature thats’ wails broke the stillness of the night.

I arose from the bed and a bright blue light could be seen outside the window, I opened the window with little fear in my heart my only longing to put an end to the sad wail that had so disrupted my sleep. The light moved closer and with it the noise grew more dreadful. I stared upon Grarine, the fabled Cryomancer, who guides me often in my searchings.

She held in her arms a babe and its piercing wails cut thru me like daggers, her face one of grief. She commanded me to return the Lycan son, to release him from his prison and so my heart stopped cold for surely she meant that of Z’ev. I questioned her about this and yet she would have no answer for me she chanted only that he must be released that his time imprisoned was to long and time was growing short. Her piercing blue eyes dripped with blood and hot fire seemed to pour thru my body, in agony I screamed and last I could hear before unconciousness took me, the child’s crying grew louder within her arms.

I awakened where you found me Kel, upon the floor by the window, convinced upon the fact that this had been no more than a dream.

****************************************************************
Keldril rose, from the bedside where he had gently lain her, her body far warmer than usual, her face white with fatigue.

You need rest, this dream has stolen a good nights sleep, belay your nightly wanderings my dear and take a rest from your duties this day, I know how you have trained with Myrddin this week.

His faced changed into it's ussual smirk, easing her instantly. Also forget not, I am close at hand, making your nights even shorter on sleep, you need your strength. The words spoken smoothly with a flash of lust in his eyes, caused a smile on her lips and a twinkle in her bright blue eyes.

Forget this, I will kill the Lycan child Z’ev if his wailing continues to cause such figments upon your mind.

He turned firmly convinced that rest would do her well but his eyes caught a sight that disturbed him greatly. A mark on the floor by the window. A scorching of the wood planks that still emitted a bit of warmth. He said nothing to her and turning left the room. He felt the sudden need to search out Myrddin, perhaps there was more to her dream than was seen.

No night wandering, this was surely a good sign, she preferred to be awake if she was going to prowl at night. She lifted her head it felt heavier than normal. She was still tired? She scoffed at her laziness and dragged herself from the bed leaping up with as much energy as she could muster just to prove to herself she was fine.

It was dark outside, but then it always was, but it had the scents of morning, early morn and she began placing her armour on. It weighed more than she recalled and she growled angrily. Her muscles were getting lax, some training would do her well. She sought out Myrddin and they began to duel, she was doing quite well really yet then a flash of heat soared once more thru her and she lost her footing. He knocked her down.

This wasnt going well, these heat flashes, they werent normal to be sure. She pulled herself up refusing his hand angrily insisting on another duel. Each duel was like the one before and Merci's frustration was great, but she continued to hide the problem from the Warmaster she would deal with this herself.

*************************************************************
Later that eve Umbrans were invited to duel with a friendly clan of vampires, Merci was eager, she loved the smell of blood and the sound of metal clinging. She stood eagerly watching the fighters, her sword itching to fight. Yet as she opened her mouth to speak and her foot moved to take a step an overwhelming heat burnt within her causing her to reel in dizziness. She had never had such trouble before. Heat was not a weakness for her she had always just quelled it with an icy wave of her hand. Sweat broke out on her forehead and she lifted a weak hand. If she didnt get home in bed, she was sure to soon pass out. The embarrassment distressed her and she quickly and politely made her apologies and left. She fled, fled as if a fire was chasing her and her horse moved fast but not fast enough. Unconciousness took her soon she had not even arrived home yet but at least the horse new its way.
************************************************************
She awoke on her back in the grass the horse nuzzling her cheek. She had fallen off? She blushed with embarrassment, thankfully her home rose high above her. Groaning, as her body ached all over, she rose and struggled inside the home falling heavily into her bed. She was quickly asleep though she tossed and turned as her fever sored. When Kel returned home she was huddled under the covers a bit of blue hair all that was seen and smiled glad she was resting well, he climbed in quietly so as not to disturb her and fell quickly to sleep himself.
