Oh, irony. Ciara had been sure that the Azoth had been within her reach, but only to come short. She couldn’t test it. She has blackrock, the most powerful, if unstable mineral in Sosaria, but yet, it didn’t work. She held back the urge to throw the rock, and instead set it down carefully in it’s safe container. What did a girl have to do to make this work? Ciara went to her shelf and started flipping through the books, her eyes turning to slits as she read. Her fingers flipped rapidly through each page, her eyes absorbing the information faster than her fingers could move. She finished the book and threw it to the side, picking up another. Suddenly she stopped. “What’s Carmut?” she asked aloud to no one.
How in the world was she supposed to find that? She’d never even heard of such a substance. She threw the book to the floor in a fit of rage then gulped, as she watched the book slam into her potions, knocking over a bright orange potion. Suddenly, the floor burst into flames, the fire licking the oily floorboards toward pone of her blackrock. Ciara screamed, her red dress swishing as she ran to get away from what would surely be a disaster. Her bare feet barely cleared the door when she heard a loud explosion. Her body flew, hitting the grassy fields outside her house. She stood up slowly, her body aching as she moved slowly to the door. She wiped at blood dripped from an unseen wound on her head into her eyes, smearing it across her face as she ventured close enough to assess the damage. She walked through the doorway, the door now hanging limply from one hinge and stared at the mess. This is not good, she thought, seeing the fire still blazing, though, no where near the rest of the blackrock. She grabbed a few bottles full of a white powdery substance, and poured it over the fires, watching the fire slowly die off.
What a mess… Admittedly, that batch of conflagration had had a bit of plant life in it, making it especially volatile. She moved slowly and shook her head, seeing tons of reagents destroyed. Some, like black moor, were a little harder to find than just the average plant on the ground. She moved slowly through, her prieviously pristine dress sweeping the ash covered floor, and found the spot of detonation, and suddenly grinned. Well, this is interesting… She picked up three small, round, black glass pieces, and gave a small laugh. Now, this was extremely interesting. What hd she put in the potion that exploded? What it made was beyond anything she ever saw before. These three … what to call them? Blackglass? Is it really what she thought it was? If so, what to do with it? She just stared at the objects in her hand, now oblivious to the wreckage around her. |
