Gah!
Waiting!
He loathed it.
Anthraxas chaffed.
He needed answers.
He could wait no longer.
He set out to find one of the leaders of Umbra who could inform him of the council's decision on whether or not he should find the priest of Oggaroth to get answers concerning Ceinwyn. He had visited the Sepulchre several times, only to find it devoid of life.
He went to the Den of Sin and ran into a couple of fellow Umbrans, one of whom wanted to talk to him about something.
After a bit of random conversation, he was told that Merrique was looking for him, and had been, and that she would arrive soon at the Sepulchre. He went there to meet her.
She arrived and appeared deeply concerned. They spoke in private. She related to him that she, too, had heard the voice of Ceinwyn, and that she had uttered two words, "Thrax" and "Oggaroth." He was glad that Ceinwyn had not spoken his true name to Merrique; that she took that secret with her to the nether world and still kept it safe. And since he was still posing as his brother, and few knew it, it would be natural for Ceinwyn to indicate him by his brother's name, Thrax, and not the name he was known by, Thraxas.
Merrique offered her own life if it would help restore Ceinwyn from whatever fate had befallen her. Anthraxas did not think it would be needful, but he knew now he had to go and find the priest of Oggaroth and force him to tell all he knew. And if he had to defy the council in the process, then so be it. Time was of the essence, for if Ceinwyn were in the clutches of Oggaroth she would be his slave, and in torment, and that was not something he wanted for her any longer than necessary. He knew that from his own experiences with the god.
He thanked Merrique for her help with Kale, and for the information, then hurried away to Dagger Isle, to find the one person who held the key that might unlock the mystery of Ceinwyn's current state, and fate. |

Again the spirit of Ceinwyn appeared to Umbra, as they sat together in the sepulcher, begging for help.
Merci was frustrated beyond beleif. No one seemed to have any answers, and Thrax seemed to be the only key. Time was short and yet they had had several meetings and practices, yet no Thrax since the night of her death. She had heard he visited his daughter Kale. Why did he not send word, a letter even. Surely he knew how important it was to contact them. Merci was very irritated. So hard to have a key to helping Ceinwyn and the key had gone missing.....
She stared into the void, and couldnt help but feel that there were those that new more who were silent, hoping to claim the glory of helping Ceinwyn themselves. She scoffed, this wasnt about glory this was about Umbra working together to help Ceinwyns spirit find peace....
She wished them all good luck in their endeavors... and prayed silently to the Sepulcher that the Matriarch would find peace... _________________ May destiny guide you... |

Leaving the Sepulcher with a heavy heart, Merrique could not help the feeling that she should feel more positive about things than she did. Granted, she had finally had an opportunity to speak with Thrax, and it was something she'd been pursuing relentlessly between trips home and to see Kale. But as it was she did not find the relieved feeling she had anticipated.
In fact, she felt more worried than she had previously.
The feeling was not alleviated when the spirit of Ceinwyn appeared once again at the Sepulcher days later, in the presence of many other Umbrans.
It worsened. _________________
. . . But the dark is very trustworthy.
It's always as dark as you thought it was.
And you don't have to work at staying there.
All you have to do is survive it.
And I've been doing that forever.
