|
Having just left her private music lesson with Dr. Salasue of the lycaeum music department, Brittany sat on the Moonglow shoreline - gently plucking the strings of her harp. A mild breeze tousled her hair and the brilliant sunshine warmed her soft skin. Smiling, she played around with the notes, enjoying the melodic sounds.
Only a few short weeks ago she had met Vaen's daughter, Nadia. They had hit it off quickly, beginning a friendship that Brit hoped would continue. They chatted about the classes and boys at the lycaeum; Nadia had met one young man who happened to be taking Brit's cooking class. Brit had been teaching this one class and was very happy with the way things were going. However, she was intimidated by the other professors who seemed to know so much about so many things!
"All I know how to do is cook," Brit had muttered to Nadia.
"I bet you could learn other things," Nadia had encouraged her.
"I've never been smart. I have a really hard time learning."
Before arriving to Moonglow a few years ago, Brit had always been told she was stupid and worthless. It was only after making friends in Moonglow had she begun to believe otherwise. They had helped her muster up the courage to try her hand at cooking, and she had picked up on it very quickly! In fact, she became one of the best chefs around.
"Why don't you try music!?" Nadia had suggested.
"I dunno...that seems so hard!"
"Try it! Oo! Try the harp! Just try! I bet you'll be just as great at it as you are at cooking!" Nadia was sincere and very convincing.

She was right! Brit thought to herself as she plucked away at the harp, the ocean waves seeming to roll in time with her music. She played a few tunes, not missing even one note! Still sitting on the grass, she wiggled and bounced enthusiastically. I'm so glad I tried this! Her big blue eyes sparkled with excitement. _________________ aka - Rhiannon
