"Lucus.. you have the floor...", Legerion had spoken.

Duke Silverwind took a deep breath, mustering all his courage to address the gathered assembly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings gathered representatives of Brittainia!
Firstly I would like to say it is an honor to be in the halls of this noble institution and I thank you allowing me to speak this eve.
Some of you I have already had the honor and privilege of meeting during my journey across our fair lands. For those of you amongst us that may not know of myself, my name is Lucus Silverwind and I serve as one of three Dukes upon the isle of Serpents Hold.
Many more of you are wondering what it is I have to speak on this eve so I shall be right to it.
*Takes a deep breath and begins to address the assembled body*
It is with heavy mind and heart I come before you this eve. As some of you may already know I have just recently returned for our Lords Minax Expedition. As you can imagine, especially those amongst this body whom have served upon the field, communication can be scarce and far between.
It was only recently upon my return that I began to hear of events which had taken place during my absence. Knowing sometimes reports cannot be completely accurate I made journey across our lands to gather the truth of the reported events.
It was, as I said, through the course of this journey I came to find some of you that are present here today.
In my journey I came to find good men and women of Virtue, I have also come to find many a great dark things.
Brothers and Sisters!
*Raises his hands in the air, his hands accenting his words as he continues to address the assembled body*
Getting to the point and heart of this message…
There have been reports of Dwarves rising up in the lands of Felucca Minoc, reportedly some of the band have slain several citizens and robbed several of possession. I urge this body to investigate this for the sake of the city and its people.
*Pauses briefly taking another breath*
Regrettably this has not been the only city to fall into dark times, which brings me to my main points.
During the course of time several of our Lords cities have been assaulted and occupied by our enemies. Felluca Yew still remains under the, no doubt, brutal and harsh occupation of the orcish hordes. Trammel Minoc has been occupied by Drow forces, thankfully the city has now been liberated but I ask why by the Humanist hand and not our own?
Many a dark thing have I heard but nay have I heard of any actions taken on the part of this body and her loyalists to liberate our oppressed cities and people, nor have I heard of this body doing anything other then debating every topic with little to no action being taken.
The hope of our people is fleeting along with the lands belief in our sacred Virtues. No longer do I hear the words of compassion, honor, sacrifice, valor, honesty, humility, honor, justice, spirituality, truth, love, or courage. Words that should be integral parts in our speech and actions. Where have our great sages gone?
By my honor, courage, and duty to these lands, I shall speak plainly before you all now.
Our noble houses of light have begun to fall into darkness, twisted principles and words of Virtue seemingly guiding the hand of many. This is truly the most disturbing thing of all that I had realized in my journey.
Paladins of Malas have murdered and plundered in the name of Virtue, reports of races of the realm being hunted down and butchered for simply being different. My friends Virtue was nay meant for us alone but for all that live under our Brittanian moons. I am reminded of the great sage Gub Gub, the son of the orc cheiften whom served our lands and Virtue well.
There is good and evil in all my friends, sometimes it is easy to only see the evil but one important part of our belief is that none are unredeemable, all races and peoples should be given the opportunity to join in fellowship of our most dear Virtues. Our hands should nay be guided by neither prejudices nor hatred, but by right and Virtue alone.
I have been told this body is contemplating the admittance of the humanist movement into its body.
*Shakes his head slightly as he continues*
The humanists spread hatred and prejudices across our realm filling the hearts of those losing hope with an answer of hatred and death. While the Humanists may have liberated our city of Minoc from the hands of the Drow and would seem to be doing a grand thing, the motives behind their actions are dark and based upon a hatred of a people for being different from us. Such motives and reasoning’s can never be endorsed nor supported by men and women of light and Virtue.
What of our Elvish friends as well? For many years our elven brothers in light have fought and died by our side in our wars and political affairs, is this how we show our gratitude? Is this how we reward our allies and friends service to Brittania?
The notion that this body would even consider allowing in such a group is sickening. Even more sickening is that this body would willingly set aside their honor and duty to the people and the land by admitting one of the very evils that plagues it.
The men and women of Humanis are nay without the opportunity to redeem themselves, but in order for this to occur they must cast aside their messages of hate and beliefs of indifference. As such I challenge them now to lay down their hate and help the race of men by establishing a message of peace and unity rather then one of separation and genocide. Together we are strong; together we can bring the peace to our world we so long for, indifference and a foundation of hate shall never bring about anything more then more hate and more death to our lands and people.
I also would like to submit this question. Where is our message to the people?
I also challenge this body to look deep within themselves and deep into our codes and forsake the path that their feet now begin to tread. The people are in need of a symbol of hope, in need of a body of light to look to in dark times. This body has a duty and obligation to the people of this land, we are the front line of defense and we must never falter in our sworn duties to our king and to our country.
This body must collect itself and remember the reason for being here, think back upon this organizations past and history. Many good men of light have fought and bled for this body in the past, I beseech this body to not allow those lives which have been willingly sacrificed in the name of light for the cause of good to be for not. These men believed in this body’s course and duty, we must never forget those whom have come before us and dishonor that which they have bled and died to protect.
The people of this land are in need of a symbol of light, a symbol of strength, a body that will not let their suffering continue. The people must once again know that Virtue is the law of this land and that these bodies of Virtue shall not forsake them!
This being said I close now and pray that this body will be able to once again find that which it has lost for I can nay bring myself to set aside my own honor and obligations to this land to support this body.
My friends this an age of darkness, and now more then ever must our light be seen.
Thank you.
Several members of the assembly had stood and began to clap and cheer, some others were not as impressed with the speech.
In the end the Duke had done what he set out to do, having completed his task he left shortly there after to return back to the isle he loves with hopes that his words had not fallen upon deaf ears.
