Ciara woke up slowly, her head still on her alchemist table where she'd past out in exhaustion. She began to blink, and shivered, a small chill seeping through the stone walls. She rubbed her eyes and yawned, still exhausted. She looked at her book, cursing herself for the loss of her notes. Most of the potions she had memorized, but the few that were rarely used, she had forgotten a few key ingredients.
She stood up, stretching her body, and dusted off her wrinkled dress, her eyes searching for her slippers. Finding them next to the pile of blackrock, (what it was doing there, she couldn't begin to fathom) she put them on, and walked out the door, and looked out the window.
A large sharp squeel pealed out of her mouth, as she saw the white powder covering her house and the surrounding areas. She ran to the teleporter, throwing a cloak on, then ran out the door. She ran to the first clearing and spread her arms out and fell backwards, falling with a powdered splat. She began to move her arms and legs, a small snow angel forming beneath her.
Afterwards, she lay still, smiling at the sky, as the snow slowly began to seep past her cloak. As the cold seeped into her skin, she finally sat up and looked towards her house, seeing the front steps covered in snow. She eyed the steps and nodded to herself. Time to clean up, she thought, and went inside, grabbing a small shovel, and began "sweeping" with the shovel, trying to clear a path.
Finally finished she stood in delight under the balcony and leaned against the post. That slight shake was just enough to make gravity work. A small clump of snow, barely hanging on to the balcony fell, smacking her in the head. With a slight frown, Ciara looked up, only to get a face full of what was left of the loose snow. Apparently the balcony needs cleaning. She took her shovel and marched into the house, through the teleport closet, and marched to the third floor balcony. She held her shovel and began "sweeping" again, clearing out the area.
Once done, she gave a small smile of satisfaction. This work had truly earned her a reward of the nice hot chocolate and gingerbread cookie waiting for her downstairs, needing but a bit of sulferous ash to make it the perfect treat. |
